Carl Cox plays an insane, non-stop mix of anywhere from classic disco house, up to his more typical banging funky tribal, and his even better hard edged tribal techno bombs and detroit/jazzy techno
if you've heard me before, quite similar on the non-tribal ends of it. his mixing is unbelievable though
I wouldn't say he plays anything close to progressive house or trance. Much more soulful/funky/classic hardcore influenced
Carl's at the top of my list |
That's what it sounds like! Banging funky tribal!;) |

he is without a doubt the best 'dj' in the world when he has the energy, a crowd that doesn't like cheese, and the time to get a lonnng history lesson through music. His best CD to me was either the FACT#2 double-cd, or the limited edition FACT Australia.... we're talking 1999/2002 here. If anyone say Marco Carola in March 2003 or Saunderson in Aug 2004, you know what you're in store for
the other act on the tour also bring a good view of electrorock and some glitch. a bit of an odd combo, but should insprie Carl to go to a much more stripped down direction hopefully.
Wonder who the local opener is for this as well? |

I saw Coxy back in 2001 at the Commodore and it was one of the best night's of my life period. We almost died because we danced for 4 hours straight. He is arguably one of the if not the best dj's in the world. He loves to do tricks on the deck, anticipate the crowd's reaction, and always seems happy. Most dj's I've seen don't really care too much about the crowd, but this man does. Even if you don't like what you hear from his sets or his particular style.. it doesn't matter once you see him live.
I was willing to pay $200 to see him in Vancouver, but now I don't have to because he's coming to Victoria! Thank you so much!
He's playing at the new Blue Pearl Nightclub in Langford's Station Pub House.
here is the link for you Victorians:

I can't wait. :D |
