Pat, the next time AVB, G&D, or Ferry are @ Vision, we'll go. Simple as that. ~D;
but anyway I hope the rave gets stuff like this more often, definately a great night. |

my 2cents....
The night overall was a success, as I really didn't expect the Rave to pack in so many people. Granted, there aren't too many 21 and below options to see a headline of talent such as that. Hernan Cattaneo explained to me how surprized he was at how young the crowd was. Even some of the smaller stage setups had some quality tallent, but the main room blew everything away.
I was fortunate enough to spend some time with Hernan Cattaneo before going to the Rave. We had dinner before his set and I got to hear about his life in London & Argentina. One of the most down-to-earth guys I've talked to. It was interesting to hear how he got his start, that it was Oakey which gave him his big break while on the Essential Mix tour of 99. They still remain pretty close, and that show was the first time they had played together in several months. Some of the stories they shared backstage were pretty funny, I can only image what the next two week will be like for this tour.
Sharam was dead on. Yes, his set did seem to be a bit recycled from the essential mix a few weeks earlier, but regardless he had the crowd going. Another educated man to speak with about production and touring, and a fellow lover of the Grey Goose. I brought up the Flashing for Money track, and he just laughed. "Crowd killer every time".
And then there was Oakey, or should I say God himself. I haven't been impressed by that man in years, and I didn't expect that to change. To be frank, he was just as conceded in real life as I ever though him to be. That's fine to have that attitude, but you better have skills to boot. He did not. I know we was catering to a mainstream crowd, but some of the tracks he threw in there were blatant flashbacks to his heydays. |
