overall i thought it was a pretty sweet show.
idk how many of you were there for jack trash and the beginning of hernan but for awhile the bass was terrrrrible. it was killing everything. my friend and i waited around for the sound guy for like 15 min until he finally showed up:rolleyes: and turned the bass down a little. it wasnt much but it was an improvement. from then on out though, i really enjoyed hernan.
the true hero of the night was sharam. around 10:25 my friend goes to get some water and after he leaves i look to my left and see sharam standing right next to me! i shake his hand, do the "youre ing awesome man" routine, ask him what hes doing here to which he replies "im fixing the sound". he returned two or three times and from that point on i thought the sound quality had almost reached the ty raves full potential.
i thought sharam spun the best too. everything was solid and i thought he had some really creative transitions.
oakenfold was right up there with sharam IMO. i did hear a few gallops and one TERRIBLE transition but other than that he kept the crowd moving.
i also thought the guy working the visuals did a really nice job.
btw, what was with the dude with the mohawk doing his tai-chi on stage? if i were sharam i woulda cut the music till his ass got of stage.:whip: |

EDIT: btw.. i parked all the way over at the hilton. dont ask my why and when i got to the rave he said i couldnt wear my hat so i threw my hat and camera in the bushes. well.. shows over, i come out and i find my camera but no hat. i love my hat. i bought it at the hard rock cafe in orlando. .. that pissed me off:whip: |
why wouldnt they let you in with a hat on? i saw that one asian girl wearing one of those hats that Raiden from Mortal Kombat wore. |

yeah... she pushed up right next to my gf and I about halfway through oakenfolds set and we managed to move her ass back a bit. her hat kept hitting us and it was bugging the hell out of the both of us.
i dont even know why though. we got there and started walking towards the entrance and this guy just hurries up and asks where i parked. i said i had parked pretty far away and he said "well.. you cant wear your hat in the building for tonight show so either take it back to your car, throw it in the bushes, or throw it in the trash."
i asked if i could put it in my gfs purse and he just glared at me and was like, "did you hear what i said? i said no hats inside the building!"
so yeah.. i chucked it in the bushes along with my camera and went in and by the time i got outside after the show, my camera was still there but my hat was gone. i had hoped id run into the twit that had my hat on the streets. i would have ran up and taken it right off his head. that hat is like.... i dono... i feel naked without it, as i wear it pretty much everywhere i go. :( |

i thought this was one of the better nights that ive had this year.
Hernan: I thought he did a great job of warming up. His style seems to lend itself better to warming up than headlining. I was there for about five minutes and then he played Chab-Closer to me (Digweed/Muir/Lexicon Ave). i cant remember the name of the song he played to close out but it was great. i think he dropped paolo mojo - motor city (jamie anderson remix) but im not sure.
Sharam: i had some issues with his set. it sounded like he took the songs from the essential mix and just reshuffled them. i went wandering after about 20 minutes of his set trying to find some ta's but there were too many people there. i stopped back and he was playing Say Hello and the disc skipped. from what i heard, he played Flashing for Money and that one track with Stevie Nicks i think its called Dreams.
Oakey: this was probably the best ive seen oakey (only seen him 3 times). i thought his set was banging but you guys were right about the questionable mixing. i took a little break when he played G&D - Arcadia. he played some classics towards the end like Greece 2000(? Remix) and Traffic. did anyone see him doing a little train type dance during Traffic?
can anyone explain to wtf those people were doing dancing in front of the decks? it was like some interpretive dance. |
