Mk2 Vs M5ge

Hi there,
I got a big question and want ur opinion.
I want to buy new decks and have the choice between Mk2 and M5ge

The Mk2 will cost me 560€ each so 1120€ for the two
And the M5ge will cost me 790€ each so 1580€ for the two

There is a difference of 460€ so I was wandering if the difference between these two decks was worth the price.

Thx for the answers.

There are some noteable differences between these two. They both are pretty much the same, as far as build goes, but the differences start with the features. The MK2 has analogue pitch control, up to 8% pitch range, which is pretty standard, and it has a pitch click, to let you know it's at 0 percent (to hear the tune as it was originally produced). The M5G has no zero-click, up to 16 % pitch range (which most prog/trance DJs dont need) and there is a light letting you know your at zero, and the pitch lights up to help with matching pitches. The M5G also has a computerized pitch (or digital pitch) which makes matching pitches more accurate (and in some cases i've heard, a little more difficult). Other than these differences, there is an improved, skip-less tonearm on the M5G, how skipless it is..I dunno but thats what they say. Also there is an anti-skate range on the M5G of up to 6 Grams.

Alot of the improvmenets on the M5G were made to benefit scratch djs, hence it was named after a famous turntablist "Grand Master Flash". These improvements were made to compete with Vestax, who had taken some sales away from Technics as far as scratch DJs, who wanted more features and more skip-resistance (better tonearm...straight or J shaped) and more torque than Techs. To be honest, if you can't decide on which one to get, I'de go with the MK5. It has some of the improvements of the M5G, but doesn't cost as much. It's more than the MK2..granted...but if your looking to buy new, not used, then go with the MK5. I had this same debate, and they are all good turntables, so it's up to you.

Oh and the prices, I don't know what the MK5 are in Europe, but prolly anywhere between 650 - 700 (which would be 450 to 500 here I assume..as those are the prices they run at).

I own a pair of M5Gs, they are certainly a major improvement from the MKII which i used to have earlier. I never used the MK5 so i cannot compare between them. Just remember the Techs are built like tanks so if you find a good deal on ebay for relatively used M5gs, go for it (should be cheaper than brand new MK5s), otherwise you'll be fine with the Mk5s. ;)
