But put someone like that in a side room in a prime timeslot and the atmosphere in the place would be amazing. anne savage last year at gods is an example of this. i think two the best parties ive been two achieved the perfect mix, kryal last year and digital this year. both event could cater for everyone. |
No dude, majority of AUTAs sure love their 'trance' and can't see anything beyond it.......
uplifting/melodic/progressive trance is becoming more commercial - worldwide - so obviously it's going to dominate the harder stuff.....nothing wrong with having the best of both though....And yes, Digital sure was a great party this year catering for the trance and house heads :D |

That poll has nothing to do with global trends or even regional ones when it comes to Dance music. How many jungle or drum and bass DJs were on that list? Yet Drum n' Bass is absolutely huge in Britain, and now in South America, argueably two of the greatest places to party in the world these days. It's just that most the DJs playing those gigs are merely locals and don't have the same international stature that uplifting trance or progressive DJs and that in no way indicates a struggling genre.
And as for hard trance attracting the 'wrong kind of crowd', most people who do break into the scene go thru a period where they become more interested in the drugs than the music. I've seen it for years, it was the candy kids listening to hardcore at the old toronto raves, and when our rave scene collapsed, the 'wrong crowd' became the e-tarded uplifting trance fans. Cut them some slack. Most of us have had a night or two where we've actually been embarassed at our own drug use. Hopefully after 6 months or so they'll grow out of that phase, and those who still love to party will be great people to support your scene for years to come.
Sounds like you guys are in dire need of some proper house, some vitamin Lawler. If you can just imagine hard music happening at less that 140BPM, then house might be for you.

A few people have mentioned 'Australia is finally catching up' with the 'trance' scene.....Imagine if the house scene takes over....QUALITY house like you guys are blessed with in Canada. Australia needs a good dose of Danny Tenaglia, Lawler, Chus & Ceballos..just to name a few.....then there'd be no turning back..... :D :whip: You got me! :eyes:

Sly guy, it is a plain and simple " popularity" contest, which tells us what? you guessed it! "whats popular"!!!!! Atb sucks balls, but he's obviously popular, so my point is still on the money.

I live in Melbournes cbd and have the pleasure of watching melbournes little kandy kids gurn their heads off out the front of my apartment building every weekend.
I have been to quite a few hard nights and used to enjoy hard trance quite alot so i also have had the pleasure of seeing first hand how ed up the "majority" get at hard nights. I didnt say other genres have none of this, just far far less and they are not as openly munted in public every weekend.
