I maintain hard dance cannot be enjoyed unless copious quantities of drugs..

A benighted comment, right there...HOW NEUROTIC. For you, maybe, not for others like yours truly :)

Interesting local lineup too.... ;) :D

Personally I much prefer something like pharmacy for the harder stuff...

wouldn't mind going to pharmacy actually... thomas krome is coming at least! :D .. would be interesting seeing organ donors playing an acid set even if its just for the novelty value (seeing their live setup)

It may have dropped off to an extent but its not as if the "fluffy" trance scene (incorporating melodic, 'uplifting', progressive, etc) has exactly taken off or grown at all...

Their biggest nights still only include stuff like 5AM at Room and Trancsend at Altitude, which are both pretty small nights when compared to how big HK, Bassstation, Bubble are or have been in the past.

Personally I love seeing acts such as Above & Beyond and Gabriel & Dresden given the main stage at events like GK, but variety is the spice of life and i would equally enjoy a set from the likes of Yoji.

yeah i know the trancier melodic stuff hasnt taken off as much as expect by now...but with the hard dance dropping a bit, there has to be some sort of unce music to take its spot. trance nights are only gunna get bigger.

and yeah, im not dissing hard stuff, i like some hard stuff...but if yoji was to jump on for say a close after above and beyond, nick warren, bt, hybrid and g and d had PLayed - the joint would clear out pretty quick.

I think for the harder stuff to survive, it has to get a bit smarter, a bit techier or something - if someone was to come out and be melbournes answer to marco v they would kill it.

I feel the need to whinge about the lack of hard dance in Melbourne in particualr the big festivals.

The lineup for godskitchen is good with some really talented artists but where is the hard dance, its the same with Godskitchen (yes Ed Real and Andy Farley were there but i'm talking about superstar dj's) Elctronic festival got it right earlier this year with proteus and Kai Tracid, but why do GK and TT never have big name hard dance dj's i.e. cosmic gate, dumonde (yes retired now but in the past), hennes and cold, dj scott project, lab 4, phil reynolds, the tidy boys, rob tissera, billy bunter, jon doe, dj spoke, K90 etc. pharamcy parties are good but they[re nothing like the big raves.

What about the biggest superstar hard dance dj in the world Yoji Biomehanika? This guys headlines dance valley, trance energy, senastion black, godskitchen global gathering all the biggest raves in the world, yet when he comes to australia he only plays in hard kandy to a couple of hundred people, no offence to hard kandy but yoji in rod laver arena at the end of the night would tear the place up.

Even Sydney has transmission and they are massive and we in melbourne have nothing that size.

I think thats all i wanted to say.

P.S. if anyone knows where i cand download yoji's EM i would be much appreciated and any of his other sets to, cheers.

Finally!!! Someone on this AUTA i can agree with!!

Yes, GK lineup is good - would be better if ARMIN was headliner and even better with a few harder djs thrown in such as Kai Tracid, Scot Project and Yogi, to mix it up abit. Like xtractorfan said - variety is the splice of life!!!

@ batemanscott - You get the "lets get extremely ed up" crowd wherever you go these days. Funny how it always seems to be related to the people who listen to the 'harder' music, like the crowd at GK won't be off their heads LOL

And funny your overseas friend said the 'hard dance' scene is dying out, when obviously, with such huge parties and djs in Europe, it's still kicking. You can't compare that to what we have here.

Taubs, for the record, you want quailty hard djs & parties = Europe is the place to be. Australia will always be deprived and people are always going to bitch and generalise abut this genre. :whip:

Melbourne's answer to marco v - let's start praying.
