| Yea you can use the mic in but nomatter what it wont sound very good. You just have to buy/borrow an external soundcard or something. You can probly buy a cheap usb line-in external adapter thingy for lyk $10-$20 US |

You can use your mic-in but it's probably mono (not stereo) and you need to reduce the line level to mic level.
Mic level is about 40 db less than line level so you need to use an L-Pad attenuator to reduce the signal. There are plans for these on the WWW that use 2 resistors, or you could use a 50 K ohm log-taper pot (potentiometer / volume control, Radio Shack has them).
I built one of these to record a line-level signal onto a camcorder mic input and it worked great. |

| I've had 2 laptops in the last year or so, both have had built in mics and mic in - When I plugged the recording line into the port it was picking up background noise from the built in mic, but my most recent laptop must switch automatically to function like a line-in. Just give it a try... |
