Like someone said i did get a lead to this post thread and yes, i am replying. Its always good to hear criticism even when its bad. A lot of it in here sounds a like something a little more then just criticism (drinkin ferry's alcohol, every track being cheese, and my favorite: name drops being done with my voice).

Maybe I didn't have a perfect set, i know a couple transitions were a little off, but I was a little nervous opening for top 5 dj in the world in front of over 1000 people. Most of my transitions lasted for at least a minute. Someone said all of them were up to 30 sec. - I take that as compliment since i guess they couldn't even tell. As far as track selection, I don't like my sets being at the same flat speed, i like keep on building up energy level from deep trance to more "pvd / tiesto" type of trance and calm it down a little bit right before the headliner goes on. The first 2hrs of the set featured tracks from Gabriel & Dresden, Interstate, Marcus Schulz, Ozgur Can, Max Graham - if thats cheese then i don't know what else to say !

I totally agree that name drops are cheesy but what i used wasn't a typical "b96" drop, it was a 30 sec. intro done by a professional mc to break up a set from deep trance into a little more hi-nrg trance. I've never seen anyone doin it so i thought it could be a cool idea. Some people liked it, some didn't.

As far as "FCUK hip hop" shirt lol - Its just a little contreversial shirt, thats it. After talking to Ferry, guys from cosmic gate and blank & Jones - all of them said the same thing, which was that hip hop is killing the whole dance scene in Europe. they said they're not getting booked as frequent as before and that it just keeps on getting tougher.

Someone even attacked the fact that i had my banner and fliers all over the place - wow! Chicago is not big on trance, the only venues that bring trance djs are vision and soundbar (sometimes) there's isn't a single club that has a resident trance dj in it. I'm trying to change that , that is why i try to promote myself and trance music as much as possible and where would be a better place to do it then vision. I also wanna advertise my website on which i spend a lot of time and money.

I'm not trying to make myself look like a superstar by writing all this but i just want to make some of you understand me a little better since a lot of us do love the same music and party at same venues. And no, i'm not kissin anyone's ass to get the gigs. before i got the first one - i never even met godskitchen's promoter - he was the one that called me first after being recommended by several people in the industry which aren't even my friends! He really like the first time i played so he continued booking me.

Anyway I wish all of you well and if you're ever see me in person and have something to say or have some kind of advise, please come up and do it, and i'll be glad to listen.

Maybe ill see some of you at Vision July 9th (oakenfold & fergie)

ok my turn.

First paragraph reply - Appreciation for the balls to sign up and reply instead of ignore. Also welcome to tranceaddict where you will waste an unbelievable amount of time like all of us do - but it's fun so enjoy yourself... You were drinkin' ferry's alcohol??? I think he was having vodka redbulls all night - was it absolut or the smirnoff ???

Second paragraph reply - so you played more "pvd/tiesto" style to CALM THINGS DOWN??? Since where are those two specific DJs so damn relaxing to listen to? And your style is not cheese, it's ASOT. People can judge for themselves but as we all know Ferry and Armin are good friends, have collaborated in the past, and play similar styles (for examples alot of tunes Ferry dropped this night was off Armin's Ibiza album last year). Now this is a PERSONAL preference. But I don't wanna hear that the whole night. The beatiful thing about Mili before GnD was that he played a bit of a different style of EDM and it totally made me appreciate both sets more. When I have to pick between you and Ferry who do you think I will go for, like you said he's top 5 in world, what top 5 list did you make? And don't bitch about transitions, I've heard PvD slam a song in about 15 secs like it's not a problem and it sounded good. Doesn't matter how long your transitions take it's about making them sound good. As RJT mentioned "bass cut, into bass drop" is a pretty effective transition maybe... ohh twice in a set, but almost every goddamn time is just plain killing it. Try to learn the songs you play, instead of just picking random tunes off ASOT and mashing them together, and find out (or teach yourself) when a smooth transition can happen.

Third paragraph reply - Professional MC from B96 ehh??? Do me a favor and make it some sexy chicks voice next time and I won't have as much of a problem. On second thought tho - don't do it, we know who you are - don't make us look like retards.

Fourth paragraph reply - Ferry and everyone else is still making money. You can do it too if you practice and become good like they are - bitching about hip-hop will get you nowhere so stop it. There are plenty of us that listen to both genres and it doesn't make much of a difference. This isn't some west-coast/east-coast bull and you're not the "tupac" or "biggie" of either side - music is music enjoy it or get the out of business - hip-hop artists work hard to get where they are at just like any other musician.

Fifth paragraph reply - Chicago is not big on trance??? How long have you been here 2 weeks??? Where do you come off saying something like that, there are plenty of clubs in the Chicago and Greater Chicago areas that play a load of trance - sometimes cheese of course - cuz the simple minded bitches love that and eat it up like it's air - but the point is there's not only Sound-bar and Vision. That's crap and I refuse to believe it. Sound-bar and Vision are certainly the two biggest venues... so maybe I see where you're coming from.

Last two paragraphs - Dude do whatever you need. Obviously what you're doing is working because you're farther in the game than I am. I guess I am bitter about it... and jealous - I'll admit it - but only because I think I could do just as decent of a job as you and have the chance to throw in some of the underground productions that me and my friends are working on. You don't know how easy it would be for me to just play that "pvd/tiesto" , but I got my own style and I'm sticking to it - regardless of whether it makes me money or not. Whether that makes me a Superstar DJ, or just some punkass who spins in his room for fun is indifferent to me. Maybe that doesn't make me as successful of a DJ as you - but I still feel, and I hope someone agrees with me, it makes me a better one.
D&GGIRL
Well, I had a great time at Ferry! I've been too busy with work all week to post anything sooner. I ended up going to Kazbar and was pleasantly surprised to see how many people showed up! We should definitely do that again soon.

As always it was great to see the TA's I know - Rob - always great to see you, Myra & Devin - you guys are very cool, Neile - nice to see you, it's been awhile, Kael - I always think of WMC when I see you...lol.

To all the new TA's I met, it was great to meet all of you - Dennis, your friend (can't remember his name sorry), Phreek, Andy/Wolverine 16, Juliet, Tony (Glass). I hope I didn't forget anyone, if I did I'm sorry. Ctprincess, too bad you couldn't make it but we'll make up for it in NYC!

I thought Ferry did a great job, I loved a lot of the tracks he played and think it was almost as good as seeing him on New Year's Day. I was all over the place and I didn't get to see everyone at the end (Rob...lol).

Can't wait to see all of you again soon hopefully! Rob, hope you enjoy the cd's and can't wait to hang out again!

By the way, Dennis, I did have fun dancing downstairs from what I can remember. :)
