i think that if you're not looking for a bar job (or similar) it'll get tricky to find a good job. i moved here 3 months ago (from sweden) and i have a job working as a programmer in london. but i got that job even before i made the move to england.
i have a friend who is looking for a programming job and it's not going very well for him (he's now beta testing games for EA instead) but of course he doesn't have any real work experience.

Also, do the flat share-thing because that's the ONLY way to live here :). it's fun and it's a great experience. and you get instant friends (which would be hard living by yourself in a boring studio apartment).

good luck! :)

Thanks for the help! I have not decided yet whether I want to move at all though, first thing I need to find out is whether there is any chance of me getting a decent job over there anyways (for me, having a job before I even move there is much preferred as well). Beta testing games does not sound like a bad job for a while though :p

my friend tells me it's actually very boring but if you just want to do it for a month or two i'm sure it's fine. i know that EA hires people for 3 months during the summer (probably to get things ready for release in the autumn) and then they might renew the contract if they need people.

but if you have any connections in england for a "proper" job, now is the time to use them :)
