i've never read so much presumptuous, uneducated, closed-minded crap from people who i thought had a clue and respected in a long while.

im not gonna argue that the big trance artists dont think its all about the money these days i just think its ridiculously nieve to think that this wasnt the case back in the old days too. yes there are hundreds of remakes nowadays but back in the summer of 99 the big producers solely produced tracks that they knew would get in the charts. It was all bordering on cheese, now i am not saying that it wasnt ing good music but the fact was that it really wasnt any different then to now. The only difference is that an awful lot of people use the supposed "downfall of trance" these days as some sort of cover up for the plain simple reason they have moved on from the genre rather than just saying fair play i just dont like it anymore and the only reason they do this is, is because they feel like they need to justify not loving the genre that was such a huge part of their life.
/rant over too :p |
maybe so, but i still love trance but i am fully aware that it has gone to and half the time is trying to be something it's not. all these peole who like their supposed "intelligent" genre's have bastardized trance into some rancid trance/prog hybrid which has completely destroyed the soul of what trance really is. whatever happened to tunes like sunday afternoon + waterfall? They're not old but it was ing good, how trance these days should realy be. And i'm not denying some people say trance is now just because they think whatever they listen to is now the coolest and amazingest music evar!!!11 but to say trance (or at least uplifting/melodic) is better than it ever was is a bit of an odd statementt, no disrespect to you of course. i only wish it was better than it was before. |

highly doubt that is true .. although a lot of people have moved onto other genres its plain to see that there is a lot more generic trance being churned out these days even by the big name producers .. and i still listen to trance though i find it quite hard finding quality productiosn these days .. |
it is really hard to do so, but like with psy, when you find a gem you really appreciate it |

i totally agree here mate. Trance to me is about either emotion or energy, and I struggle to find that in newer stuff. It's too predictable for my liking and just struggles to do anything for me. I dont see how this makes us elitist or whatever cos we blatantly still like trance, but as you say many people are into the boring stuff of people like andy moor, armins new stuff, and stuff from labels like somatic sense & armada which are terrible |

haha i think the elitist point people get at is that the people into the other genres or who dont like trance seem to go out of their way to inform people that trance wasnt what it was way back when :p |
