The police of L.A.

Yesterday I got pulled over by a motorcycle cop for going 85 in a 65, i was on my motorcycle as well. First of all, who doesn´t go 80-85 on the freeways here????

Well I just moved to L.A., so do they target motorcycles? And are all the cops as corrupt as this one? The guy pulls up next to me and yells "pull the fu#k over mother fuc#er!" This freaked me out, i have never heard a cop say those things. So anyway, the whole time he is just cussing at me, and gives me a ticket. So the question is...

Is there anything I can do to get out of this-
1. I was going with the flow, slighty over when I passed cars.
2. It is my first ticket in California
3. He treated me like a criminal when all I did was speed (profanity, name calling).

L.A.cops suck.

there's no way of getting out of doing 20 miles over. just cuz everybody does it doesn't mean it's legal :) sucks, but that's the truth.

you can file a complaint for the name calling...but nothing is going to happen to him.

Well I am the Queen of Speed so there are ways of getting out of the speeding ticket.
1st you need to set a court date and fight it! If the cop was yelling at you like this you can use that in your case. They have no right to talk to you like that. How long did he talk to you before/ after the ticket??

i dont like LA cops either, and i ride as well, i just keep an eye out for them at all times. Make sure to mention in your report about the name calling and such. F him.

Sorry to hear that! I always hate to see fellow riders get nailed. But remember, if you really were speeding, ya can't blame the cop, although he shouldn't have talked to ya like that.

First off, hire an attourney if you don't want it going on your record. I know tons and tons of people who have gotten off tickets much worse than that. I have my attourneys phone # memorized. He charges a $250 one time fee and if he doesn't get you off, you don't pay him. Thankfully I've only had to use him once but I have buddies who have used him 4 or 5 times so far this year alone.

Second, I'm not sure how long you've been riding or more importantly what kind of bike you ride (I have 2 gixxers, one pictured below) but sportbikes are one of the biggest targets anywhere. Here in Washington they automatically hate you if you ride one because they know you can outrun them if ya want and they view us all as irresponsible menaces to society

So the bottom line is,
Should you have been given a ticket: yes
Can you get out of it: yes
Can you do much about the name calling: not really but you can try

I laid this one down in Feb :( and it will be out of the shop sometime this week.

Good luck and let us know what the result is! :D

Welcome to LA. :disbelief

First of all like Orbital posted, just cuz everyone else is doing it doesn't mean it's legal.
Memorial Weekend and any other holiday weekends gets more cops out looking for drunk drivers and any other traffic violators = Speed kills. Doesn't matter whether it's your 1st or 4th ticket here in CA, you still need to obey all traffic laws etc...

I see "Traffic School" in the future for you. That's probably the only thing you can do to keep your California driving record clean.

So where did you move from Derosas? How would you have been able to GET OUT of this traffic ticket if it had happened over there?
liquidmist2001
man, cops here will pull over just about anything, as long as it's got any kind of wheels...

although i don't ride, i've been pulled over in my car 5 times in the last 3-4 years

two that i went to traffic school for so there's 3 on my record, with two of them about to come off.

one of them was an entirely bull ticket, i was going 75 in a 65 and i got pulled over for that....and another i was behind three other people going faster than i was and i still got pulled over, my car probably had something to do with this, at the time i was driving a 3000GT

but yeah, cops are dicks and everybody knows it. you could try to fight the ticket in court, if the cop doesn't show up to argue his side, then the ticket doesn't go on your record, you only have to pay the court fees...
SeventhSense
I stay under or around 80 and I havent had a ticket yet.
Carriegsxr6
two word sweetie: TRAFFIC SCHOOL! Dont let that jerk mess up your points cause he was having a bad day. If you take traffic school, it wont show on your record.
Zombie0729
cops in the larger counties of California have huge quota's they have to meet every month. thats why we all hate 'em :)

DjWoody
if it makes you feel better, a month ago I got a ticket for going 100MPH on a 70 zone.!!!! That's wreckless driving and I could've gotten my car taken away. The cop wrote a lower speed to hook me up, otherwise, there goes my car! Oh, the funny thing is, that it was a freakin SPEED CHECKED BY AIR ticket! Yeap, the damn airplane got me and I had a cop waiting for me ahead in the freeway. I had to pay $230 for it, plus traffic school! gggrrrr
