06.11.05 DCS Session 04 w/ Henry Chow & Dirk W - SA

DJ_Octane

The fourth installment of DCS Sessions features:

Henry Chow - Zenit, Lockedgrooves.com, Henrychow.com - Houston

From the East to the West, Henry Chow brings a fresh new sound to the international Techno community. Though he keeps his cool from the outside, Chinese-American Chow lets it rip - in the clubs and
on vinyl. As well all know, Techno keeps progressing by way of innovative producers: Henry is one of these DJs/producers innovators as the excellent Ante Zenit 21 12" is a prime example of. Henry's sound is basically a rougher, synthesized one. Compressed with hypnotic multirhythms and extremely hard percussive / tribal influences. Add minimal repetitive melodies on top of it and there you go. You can hear his latest work already gaining support by the likes of Umek, Christian Smith, Danilo Vigorito, Oxia, Rino Cerrone, Tomie Nevada, Marco Carola, Stanny Franssen, etc. Notwithstanding his young age he is definitely no
newcomer to the scene having been quite active in underground circles since 1996. Being influenced by the Hip Hop culture at an early age, Henry wanted new mixtapes to breakdance to so he found himself buying
two turntables and a bunch of Hip Hop classics. After experimenting with Drum and Bass resp. House he eventually fully embraced Techno. Says Henry about his motivation, "To me Techno has no boundaries. Being repetitive and minimal, it was no secret that Techno was made for manipulation. It's all about manipulation: Manipulating the tracks and the crowd.” After about four years of writing and producing Techno music, Henry makes his debut on Marco Carola’s Zenit Imprint with the “Master Plan EP.” Soon to follow his track on the “From the East to the West” Compilation on Stanny Franssen’s Genetic Recordings Label. With his music in demand, Stateside and International dates begin to follow.

Lucas Wade and Daveed - Bucklup Entertainment (Austin)

The names speak for themselves. These talented DJs have gained themselves the reputation as one of Texas's most sought after duos. Always guaranteed to deliver the funk and the bass, their blend of Speed Garage, House, and Turntablism have rocked crowds from Austin to Seattle. Don't miss your chance to see them light up DCS Sessions.
