THE SECOND COMING of the hugely successful event featuring cutting edge Tribal House from UK’s finest TONY THOMAS (tbc) DJ PROMO (Ministry of Sound / UK), Portugal’s PEDRO G, Spain’s ENRIQUE SOTO and Melbourne’s own NICK DEM Q (Bamboo Music) with support from ROLLIN CONNECTION (Darkbeat). This will be TONY THOMAS’, PEDRO G and ENRIQUE SOTO’S debut Australian performances.

ROLLIN CONNECTION fresh from their successful collaboration with FRACTURED at PLATFORM 1 and their ongoing collaboration with DJ PROMO at his PIXELFREE night, step things up a notch with a main room tribal set that they are really looking forward to.

NICK DEM Q makes his first major Melbourne appearance since THE DRUM IS GOD! In 2004 and will be playing plenty of new material from his imprint label BAMBOO MUSIC.

“THE HOLY TRINITY” – DJ PROMO, PEDRO G and ENRIQUE SOTO are well known throughout Europe for their relentless Dancefloor energy reflected in the number of times they were booked as a trio to perform. They play different styles of tribal house with frequent injections of the Latin tribal that is so often absent from the scene. The legendary GOODLIFE, 3D, G-SPOT and BATTLE OF THE DIAMONDS events have taken place all over the UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece as well as PROMO’s high profile performances in Japan, America and South Africa. This will be the first time the Trinity has played together since last year in England and the debut Australian performances of PEDRO G and ENRIQUE SOTO.

ROSS ANTHONY, ANDY ARNOTT and VORN are no strangers to ROOM and no strangers to the importance of converting the opening hours of an event into a buzzing memorable one. This room is sponsored by VODKA O and RED EYE and will be fully decorated and feature discounted drinks for the first 2 – 3 hours.

The well situated MATT McLEAN and SOREN based at Hawthorn’s ALLEY TUNES record store are not only capable of drawing a crowd, but as experienced peak hour DJ’s, maintaining that crowd and keeping the Dancefloor packed.

ROWIE, FEIGAN and LIAM McMAHON will complete the line-up for the second room and add a harder, dirtier edge to the sound and bring the room to a close on a crescendo.

DJ PROMO

DJ PROMO aka MATT SOLO started promoting in 1986. By 1989 he was managing DJ’s and by the early 90’s he was running a record store in London and had started putting on events and helping other people with theirs. Late 96 after leaving the record store he launched the infamous AURAL SEX parties and with them, his own DJ career.

PROMO has played at most clubs in London including MINISTRY OF SOUND and THE END and was even called in to sound check FABRIC before it opened making him the first person to ever DJ on the legendary system there. He has played in America, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Africa and across Europe. He has also organized and hosted numerous international events.

His radio work has included Ministry Of Sound internet radio as the featured monthly guest on the SECRET SESSIONS and a guest spot on the ALL ABOUT PROG show. His GOODLIFE events broke bar and attendance records at 2 venues and his 3D events featuring the collaboration with PEDRO G (Portugal) and ENRIQUE SOTO (Spain) have succeeded equally well in both the UK and internationally.

PROMO’s distinct sound encompasses numerous genres of house, from the sublime jazzy sound of Europe and the US through to the dirtiest, darkest tribal and progressive there is. He has an unquenchable penchance for long sets clocking up 19 hours non-stop once and has made an application to challenge the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the longest continuous DJ set.

With over 10,000 records in his collection and a wealth of clubbing knowledge his musical flexibility is unmatched. He has completed over 40 mix CD’s, an album of original music as yet unsigned, and numerous remixes.

His recent venture THE DRUM IS GOD! smashed the bar record of TWO FLOORS UP by $4500. He runs the weekly house/tribal event PIXELFREE at BUNKER every Saturday, and is a resident at the DARKBEAT parties and guests at various events including the forthcoming PRIVATE FUNCTION and Sunday sessions ENVY at ROUGE.

His current project is the re-launch of his THE DRUM IS GOD! events, bringing over KENNY LARKIN for a one off performance in Melbourne, PIXELFREE and is in preparation for his attempt at the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the LONGEST DJ MARATHON in Nov/Dec 2005.

PEDRO G

Born in Lisbon, Portugal. From his early teens he was often seen playing his acoustic guitar together with some of his friends around the streets and parks of his home town. He joined an experimental punk band named PANICO GERAL and after two years and a couple of stage platforms wrecked by the public frenzy that ensued whenever they performed, they decided to split. It was then after visiting Holland in the late 80’s that he was introduced to electronic music for the first time.

Pedro was soon experimenting playing “Down Tempo and Hypnotic Ethnic Trance” with an old AM radio for effects, receiving signals from North Africa that no one could understand but sounded wicked! With these influences as his music foundations and an insatiable appetite for quality and diverse music, PEDRO G developed the hypnotic-ethnic-tribal sound that he's best known for these days.

Quickly winning the attention of club owners, he was offered his first residency at the DECIBEL CLUB on the infamous 24th of July Avenue which ran for 3 years, during which he was invited to DJ at the top clubs in Lisbon including LUX and KREMLIN.

In 1996 PEDRO G left Portugal to go to England. He starting by organizing and promoting events like “THE GATHERING” and “G-SPOT” and blended his sound to include a more mainstream selection which quickly made a success of his time in London. This developed his unique style into what we hear from him nowadays and brought him to the attention of DJ PROMO.

In 2000 the pair started promoting parties together and with the addition of ENRIQUE SOTO they formed “3D” THE THIRD DIMENSION (3 DJ’s, 3 Countries, 1 Party). Apart from their weekly spot at SUBLOGIC, they rocked dancefloors at PROPAGANDA, BAR LORCA, AQUARIUM and BAR MONACO 1 & 2 (All in London). Soon they were playing at larger and larger parties in more and more cities. Radio slots followed, most notoriously MINISTRY OF SOUND’s internet based station which brought them to the attention of new audiences around the globe and many bookings followed.

Pedro has also spun all over London plus regular monthly trips to the south coast of England, Brighton. International appearances include Holland, Italy, Greece, Portugal and Spain.
He runs a weekly event at REVOLUTION and is preparing to re-launch his G-SPOT night. During all this he still find’s time to spend in his studio where he is completing his debut album to be ready later this year.

ENRIQUE SOTO

Born in Almagro, Spain. In 1990, due to his interest in music, SOTO got in front a pair of decks for the first time playing rock music, this happened at a bar CASA VIEJA, the name that would later become the name of his rock band.

In the next 8 years, until September 1997, ENRIQUE worked as a DJ, in great number of venues and became a wizard with the equipment so often in front of him. He continued with the band during all this time and eventually with one of the co-founders, left to explore the world of music in London, UK.

After arriving in the UK, he worked for six months at VENOM and it was here that he discovered electronic music. From here he went to playing the opening sets at LIMELIGHT and the managers saw quickly that he was better than the main acts and destined for bigger things.
A true technician of the craft, ENRIQUE SOTO can mix House music and all its subdivisions as well as other electronic music like Techno, drum and bass, speed garage and even hip hop and is never afraid to experiment with his combinations of these styles and so generates a unique sound that electrifies dancefloors and confuses other DJ’s.

After a series of residencies in a series of bars and clubs in London he came across DJ PROMO and PEDRO G. The duo were shocked by the way SOTO would mix tracks that they would never dream of mixing and do so in a way that was as beautiful to watch as it was to hear. They subsequently joined forces and 3D was born.

Most memorable were the never ending lock-in parties that started on Saturday nights and finished on Sundays evening. As part of 3D, ENRIQUE has played at MINISTRY OF SOUND and on their internet radio station. All over London and further afield in Northern England and the Southern coast. As well as appearances in Italy, Greece, Portugal and Spain.

He is currently a resident at the TUCK parties in London and continues his long time collaboration with DJ DAN DAVIES in Brighton at the clubs THE JOINT and THE CORE as well as his regular appearances at SMARTY PARTY in TURNMILLS.
His international work continues. Having just returned from DJing in Venice and production of his debut album is well under way.

NICK DEM Q

Once upon a time, the concept of a 'Tech-House' genre was something of a contradiction. Quite often, purist Techno purveyors argued that any track infused with the flavours of a traditional house sound, lets say hints of a sexy vocal layered over four-four beats, could hardly stand up to the adrenalin engaged energy inherent in a typical hands-in-the-air banging anthem. The converse of all this of course, was the soft-core House fan whose idea of kicking bass started and stopped somewhere around the Logic default mark of 120 BPM....

That was until Melbourne DJ, producer, and BAMBOO MUSIC co-founder NICK DEM Q released the first track off his own, now seminal, record label. Entitled 'BOMBA' the track came as a surprise to both sides of the category specific masses. Showing influences of the lush percussion most often reserved for Spanish house, mixed with a disparately thumping techno bass line, 'BOMBA' quickly became the standard in the new sound which these days, is most commonly referred to as Tribal, AKA ¬ Tech-House.

BOMBA was quickly picked up on play lists by a diverse group of international DJs and producers, including MURRAY RICHARDSON, X-PRESS 2, TRENDROID and SAEED & PALASH. Several outstanding reviews in UK dance bible's 'DJ' and '7' soon followed and the eclectic BAMBOO sound was born.

Two years on and NICK DEM Q's unique tech-house sounds have continued to carve a loyal following from both DJs and dance floors alike. Having toured most of the key cities of the Asian Pacific region, including sell-out club dates at PARK97 in Shanghai, THE CLUB in Beijing and super club ZOUK in Singapore, it is not just DEM Q's production work, but also his headlining sexy tribal house sets that have helped raise his profile as a pioneer of this often under-represented, but always killer sound.

Created upon the foundations of accessibility, DEM Q continues to have the unique ability to create music that is written for the dance floor, yet never compromises the integrity of the sound. Ever soulful, DEM Q is a now recognized as a producer capable of humanizing electronic beats, using an un-definable ¬ almost rhetorical method of production, which somehow layers up a pared-back sound. The breadth and calibre of artists now deploying his tracks on compilation albums from all over the world, coupled with a #4 spot on the ARIA club chart, not to mention an already acclaimed debut album, stand as testimony to this man's rare talent.
