Hey guysm I'm heading to cancun next week... was wondering if any of you have been there, and if so, are there any good trance clubs?
I hear Coco Bongo and Dady'O are pretty good, but any help will be appreciated :D

There are no "Trance Clubs", however, I would recommend La Boom personally. Great sound system and the ice cannons are something that everyone needs to experience (Dady O has them as well). When I was there, it was usually hip hop until 2ish and then hard trance after that. Mexicans love a slightly cheesy, evil hard trance vibe. Think "Dance With The Devil". Both years I went to Cancun it was during Spring Break so the atmosphere might have been a little bit different than usual. I was actually lucky enough to catch Paul Van Dyk there in 2002...absolutely mind blowing.
Have fun...and if you really need a trance fix. Bring your mp3 player, stay up all night,hit the beach at 5 and watch the sunrise while listening to the track of your choice. |

Played in Cancun just a few weeks ago
There are no real prog/trance only clubs there except Ultra Afthours. The best club there is The City.. one of the most impressive places I've ever seen, but its only worth going to for their special events which they only have around busy seasons. Around NYE they had Sasha, Burrige, PVD, Nick WArren, Danny T all in one week, but now the only upcomign show I see if Christopher Lawrence in June.
Otherwise from what people told me there, dance music is mainly listened to by the locals there so they are mainly mexican affiars other then the large special event. All the dj's there pretty much play the sam sound... kinda a proggy tribal thing (like Murk, Scumfrog, Danny T) type stuff with alot of latin remixes thrown in (sometimes at weird times). The resident at Ultra is actualyl really good though. There is one all house spot, but its a tiny outdoor thing behind Daddy O.. i think its called Home or something.
PRetty much don't expect to go down there and hear good electronic every night of the week. They have their down days too, but watch out for the mexicans, they nutso. I left the club's new year's eve party after playing 4 hours at 10am and they were partying til 4pm I heard. Closing time don't really matter there. Watch out that with all-you-can-drink at the City that you don't get a table... which you would want after 4 hours
Definitely hit up: The City, CocoBongo, Ultra and if you are looking for a place ok most nights of the week, Dady O... bikini or legs contests at Dady Rock kinda funny.. they asked me to give out one of the awards when i was there |

Yeah, like everyone is saying there really isn't any Trance clubs in Cancun. Check for special events at some clubs sometimes they bring dj's, I saw tall pall at the City and it was so good. When I went I found the city to be the most EDM inclined out of the large clubs.
The clubs there are insane! My favorites where Daddyo's, and the City and Fat tuesday because its on the beach. Every club has there night that is most busy, so ask around, because there is nothing better than 5,000 people packed in a club.
