After a scary few weeks health wise I am returning to my beloved show to play a special set for you all....many changes have taken place at CJSF and the brilliant programming director has decided to cut my show to two hours to allow for a folk music show to air from 12-2am...........not cool. If this appauls you as it does me be sure to email cjsfprog@sfu.ca and voice your displeasure....
This reduction in broadcast time limits my ability to have guests and do my show to the best of my ability.
Very very sad indeed.
Other stuff happenning with me: I am prepping for my appearance on 4x4 101 radio broacasting in LA, California on May 28th.....pretty big and I'd love to bounce some ideas of you guys so I can head into the session with a little more confidence.
I just wanted to thank everyone for all the continued support of LIFE AT 140 BPMS and assure you that I will keep on trucking for as long as I can.
An extra special thank you to Sean and Vlado for covering my disabled ass last friday. Brilliant job guys :) I love you.

here is the answer from the cjsfprog regarding my question why Life at 140bpm has been cut short.
"Thanks for your message. Cutting Life at 140BPM back to 2 hours was a
mutual decision between the Programming Department and the host of the show,
DJ Mirka. At this point I don't think it will be temporary.
The host often finds herself busy with DJ gigs and can't make it to do the
show, and she prefers being responsible for a shorter timeslot - that makes
it easier for her to find replacement hosts if she can't make it, and it
gives her the chance to do a short set on the show before heading out to a
late gig. This way she can continue her commitment to the station without
feeling like she has to choose between her show and her work.
Also, CJSF's program schedule is becoming progressively more full and we're
now limited to offering new programmers late night or early morning slots.
Since bus service stops at SFU just after 2am, the latest slot we can offer
someone without a car is 1am, so we've been opening these slots in places
where existing shows are exceeding the standard maximum show length of 2
hours. Life at 140BPM was the second last show with a timeslot longer than
2 hours, and it seems only fair that we don't tie up 4 hours with one show
as community interest in participating in the station continues to increase.
I know her listeners liked the long show, but we have to find a compromise
so that we can also maximize the opportunities for other people to
participate too and maximize the diversity of programming content.
Sorry to hear that you're disappointed - hopefully you're able find some
other programming on our schedule that interests you. You can find our
schedule at www.cjsf.ca and there are brief descriptions of each program.

Glad to hear you're back Mirka. We have missed you. Great to see you back on your feet. Sucks about the show, we know how much work and heart you've put into your show and to see it cut like that just plain sucks.
Congratulations on your show in LA! Just be yourself and make sure you have fun! As long as you have fun, nothing can go wrong! |
