No worries there considering the Famicom and the Megadrive were two of the enemies. Those are just the Japanese counterparts of the NES and Genesis, respectively.

Not likely. They probably ripped backgrounds from FFVI (I can't remember if those are actually real backgrounds... Have to play the game again) and made sprites themselves.
