Not being too religious myself, my interest sparked as I witnessedw the goings on at the Vatican as the white smoke plumed out of that chimney.
I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed that such a figure could bring so many people together. You would see pedestrians rushing to the square creating a massive crowd in a matter of minutes.
Congrats to Joseph Ratzinger! To be honest since Pope John Paul II died, I've been somewhat intrigued by how the popal procedure works. I'm glad he's keeping the same policies though, although alot of people are against his conservative methods.
GAY MARRIAGES ARE WRONG, imo.

thoughts? please share as i know jack all about catholics

Fully agree man!
Im a Catholic myself and i didn't even know all the procedures that take place in chosing another Pope. The footage of crowds cheering for the pope at the Vatican gave me tingles. Im sure he'll do fine. |

couldnt disagree more fellas. im terribly disappointed yet another ancient decrepid conservative with stale ideas is to head the church. someone that believes contraception is wrong, so AIDS and other fatal illnesses are helped to march across the globe. i believe if you have the sort of power to make worldwide change, you shouldnt have your ideas living in the previous millenium.
i think conservative religious leaders give all religions a very bad name. |

Yeah I copped a bit of a sensory overload as I watched the event unfolding. Possibly because of the crowds ethnic diversity all cheering for the same cause.
The journo's interviewed a few people, and it seemed alot of females weren't too happy because apparently they want females to have the chance to be a pope or cardinal as well. hmm I was gonna say something, but I think there would be a little too much backlash from the feminists.
pkc: yeah i agree with the idea of moving along with the times, but some things should remain the same. i reckon John Paul II did a good job, even though I don't know exactly what he does. All I know is that he copped a bullet and then forgave the man and shook his hand. TOP SHOW LASS |

Great another conservative Pope, :)
that means:
- We can keep women in their rightful place (ie. the kitchen)
- Burn gays at the stake
- Vilify that ludicrously pseudoscientific theory of evolution,
- Save the souls of millions of heathens in the third world so when they do eventually die from AIDS (because of our stance on contraception) they will go to heaven and not hell |

HowStuffWorks is your friend my man.
Equally interesting is how a Saint is selected.
Again, HowStuffWorks has the info. |
