Snow Crash
Evening People,

The management of the Emporium has applied for a Public Entertainment Licence to open until 7am on NYE and initially for 14 nights a year.

As part of an application for a P.E.L you have to give notice to the public.

About a month ago I saw the above notice in the Leicester Mercury's classified section, unfortunatly I've spent 3 days hunting through old papers and I can't find the notice, so I can't scan it.

There has also been a recent application by the SFI Group to build a new pub the "Litten Tree" in the site of former clothes shop tweedies(located in the square just opposite the Emporium), the application was rejected and the SFI group appealed to the district council.

A public inquiry was called as part of the appeal and this was reported in the Mercury on November 7th (lores scan hi-res scan)

However, it gets worse, on Wednesday (14th)the Headline of the Mercury reported that town centre residents were worried about late night disturbance had have called for a public meeting. (lores hires)

In Tommorrow's(16th) Edition of the Coalville Times there is a slightly more balanced report, read it here hires

It seems as though the council is unaware of the fact that over the last 3 years or so that passion@the emporium has put Coalvile on the map and is not just a "ex mining town in the middle of nowhere"
and is trying as hard as it can to kill off any reason for people to come into the town from other areas.

Anyway since the council is asking for people to write to them with their oppinions (and is hoping for negative responses from locals), I'm going to ask a few friends from Shropshire to get all the Passion regulars that they know and write a short letter to the district council informing them that yes people do come to coalville in droves from around the country to come to Passion.

MODS: If you think that this post is useless, feel free to delete it, I just saw those headlines and on investigating felt compelled to post.

Lol! Sounds like a certain person who cooks my dinner has been writing to your council mate :D

But seriously, I'd never heard of Coalville until I started hearing about the Emporium. And they've got a point that by closing at 7 people will trickle out rather than all leaving at 2am and making loads of noise.

Maybe the Emporium should get space for a free car-park to encourage people not to park on the roads.

yeah I'll second that I'd never heard of Coalville untill Passion got big there, its weird cos people should respect that some small mining towns been made big on the made Passion probably brings a lot of money to coalville too with shops, and hotels so on. the lot thats probably whined to the council are probably some ters who moved from a village to a town and beings their hometown isn't like some nice land with green green grass (well maybe a couple of bags of the finest skunk), but yeah the whineing bastards should off back to their knitting in their cottages. and yes many people from the midlands drive to Coalville on a saturday night to go to Passion I know at least 3 or 4 groups of people who drive up there, and I wish the town centre dudes would get a life, like theres nothing worst then a depressing small town, but a small town with a wicked nightclub good, and I'm sure theres no violence there cos what ben sherman wearing beer boys going to travel all the way to Coalville to start trouble?, like Northamptons got all in clubs Godskitchen was formed here years ago at roadmender they still do monthlies there well I'd say once every 2 months lol, the promoters are from here but they moved to Birmingham because it outgrew Northampton, so Northamptons never had a big wicked club really so we're just know here for a group of blokes who make shoes, like Lutons know for a group of people who make hats, and coventrys a city that makes cars, gets pretty boring dosen't it. So the town council should give them a later licence I know if I was a local taxi driver or a corner shop owner near the club I'd be happy because all crappy home NYE parties end early so taxis get more customers, plus people might want some cigs from a shop before they enter a club or after, I dunno write to paper and say the locals who live the town centre who complain are a secret cult of inbred transexuals who sheeps, and eat their own babies, lol thats a bit extreme, but good luck lets hope the council see their senses, because clubs are good for local business.
