Problem #1
In certain games such as Manhunt, Soul Reaver 2, Max Payne 2 and Republic Commando; there is a section on the screen at the top, about 2 inches wide, that is corrupted. It either show's textures but won't show detail (ie. lamps, text, etc,) or will show black.
I doubt it's the drivers because when I restart my computer the game works fine, then if I try to go back into it or to play a different game I get the same problem.
Problem #2
When I play Farcry the textures seam over contrasted, not very drastic outside but more inside ie. the second level ship. Also certain textures are missing and on some hills there are black patches instead of grass and sometimes walking towards it fixes it and other times it doesn't. Sometimes entire parts seam out of place ie. looking through a door and seeing the ocean floor and other parts of the level. Also some textures like grates are missing which can be confusing when you think you're walking on air.
Any help is appreciated.
Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2
Intel 2.93Ghz processor
1GB RAM
MSI Geforce NX6600 GT
Most games are ran at the highest detail or close to it (most games autodetect the settings) and yes I have the latest drivers, right from the Nvidia site. |

| I think your video card maybe running alittle hot. Underclock it or replace the HSF with a better one like the Zalman vf700 alcu or cu or the nv silencer v2.0. Just open your case when u play games. if you dont get any corruptions then u know u have a heat issue when u closed the case/video card or something like that |

Also for testing, I'd recommend tuning down the detail and set it to something lower. So, for instance, if there's a set to optimize system, do that and then if it's still being funky, change those settings slightly lower.
It's definitely a result of a hot video card :/ . If anything, make sure you have a good case fan setup to help get the heat out of your box. If it's still running hot, you can look into a good vpu cooler. |

if it's the video card getting hot then how exactly would restarting it automatically allow me to play the game with no problems, play it for a few hours no less.
setting to optimize my system just gives low settings, those things are never accurate and i have the system to handle most new games ie. doom 3, half life 2, far cry, at full resolution so i should have no problems. oh well. far cry works now, it just needed an update. |
