The review:
I arrived a little before 10. Had to pay $10 for parking. :whip: Place was totally dead, as to be expected being there so early. Mr. Miami Mike Warren arrived and Eric came from around the corner and set everything up. Mike played some really sick tunes including oNE song I really wanted to hear: Chicane featuring Bryan Adams – Don’t Give Up (Agnelli & Nelson remix) That was Eric’s closing song for the Orlando FLTA Xmas party.
People started arriving. More party people than TAs. One thing’s for sure, it WASN’T a Tuesday night in SoBe. One problem this night: there was another bouncer here. Someone we DIDN’T know. :whip: And this wouldn’t let Mel in. She had to leave. :whip: Nice work, FAG.
Eric came on at…uh…1, I think? I can’t remember, I’m STILL recovering. :p
His set was banging trance, the way it should be. Nothing but good tunes from start to end. He played Arturo’s song Heaven Drops. Nice production. Hrhrhrhrhr.
A lot of TAs came out for tonight’s historic gig. Damon came all the way from Tampa. Of course the man who organized this, koky, his bro Leo (sup homie!), Others: Ambs, Luis, Miriam, Felipe, Liz from CJ (I think?) Ingrid from CJ, Manny, Natalia, Karen, Ben, Arturo, Harold, Doug, Maribel, Alfredo (Funketeer), Candy, Bunny, Renzo. Edgar was supposed to come but due to circumstances beyond his control, he couldn’t make it. Hope that gets resolved soon, bro. Jasin came again, so many people!
Relik took over for Eric a little after 4, if I recall correctly and just delivered another great set. Can’t wait for Tuesday to see you open!
We invaded the 2nd floor. A really nice, comfortable mellow section, but it was FREEZING up there. Manny and Natalia put on a great light show, as you can see by the pics. Thanks guys.
Now, here’s where it gets insane:
Me, Eric and Damon were outside near the end of Relik’s set when I see this black girl stumbling down the sidewalk of Hispañola Way. She falls to the sidewalk, gets back up, then starts walking again, but into the street, and with her arms stretched out like she’s flying. :wtf: She walks all over the street in TRAFFIC, but no cars hit her. She is so ed up on god-knows-what she doesn’t know where she is. I’ve NEVER seen anyone like that before. Just plain nuts. She gets down to Collins and Hispañola and we don’t know what happened after that.
Now, not even 10 minutes after THAT altercation, something ELSE happens. At that same intersection, some guy pulls a taxi driver our of his cab and just beats the out of him Someone else joins in the ass kicking and then we got a crowd watching the like in Rocky V. :wtf: The cops come and the crowd breaks up. One of the guys who was involved came running down the street and runs into the alley next to Blue. The taxi driver comes down and follows the guy down the alley. The cops FINALLY come down and go down the alley too. Just nuts.
Some other happened in front of Amika, involving a girl but we didn’t get a good look at it. Whatever. SoBe is just plain insane.
All in all, a good night.
