TCB you're lucky i seem to be the only one who went to Two Tribes and didnt take drugs so I am awake enough to post a review. :) anyway the people I saw:
Jan Johnston
She sung to pre-recorded mix, so it was only her up on stage. She drew a pretty decent crowd, and I found her very entertaining. It was good to see the woman behind so many trance classics. The songs she sang to:
Freefall - Skydive
Tilt - Flesh (Tiesto Mix)
Cor Fijneman feat. Jan Johnston - Venus (dj tiesto remix)
BT - Remember
I think there was one or two more songs but I can't remember. She was good though.
SIGNUM
Signum played after Mr S so it was already pretty hard in that arena. So Signum carried on with the hard stuff and it been one of the best trance sets i've heard in quite a while, nice and hard, and probably cos it so friggin loud made it sound a bit harder as well. I really didn't know that many songs apart from their own productions. Anyway songs I knew:
Tiesto - Urban Train
Signum - The Timelord
PG2 Vs Katana - Transcentral (original mix)
Signum - First Strike (Signums 2004 Signal Mix)
Signum - Second Wave (Signums 2004 Signal Mix) with Delerium - Silence vocals.
Signum - Coming On Strong
Anyway I loved their set, they exceeded my expectations. Just a pity it was like 40 degrees in the arena they were playing. I got to shake hands with them after the set as well, and I later saw them purchasing Yiros' from one of the vans. :)
HYPER
Saw only a little bit of Hyper, the outdoor arena he was playing was pretty much empty. Sounded pretty good but wasn't much atmosphere.
LUKE CHABLE
Saw only a litle bit of him as well. Sounded very nice but was once again no people there which was disappointing. Stupid Adelaide.
RICHIE HAWTIN
Checked out Hawtin for about 30 mins with the Gumble-meister. HE was good, I really enjoyed what I heard, was playing some banging Techno but for some reason I really enjoyed it. :conf: The crowd was pretty massive as well and getting into it a lot.
PRODIGY
Prodigy were :eyespop: ! Such great entertainers!! Played all their best stuff and the areana was absolutely packed, it was more like a mosh pit. They played:
Breathe
Firestarter
Smack My Bitch Up
Outer Space
Dont know the rest, not really an obsessed prodigy fan. But anyway seeing these guys were awesome, just so good to watch.
M.I.K.E.
He played after the Prodigy so that was pretty hard for him, and the areana totally cleared out, there were like 50 people left, I felt heaps bad for him. :( Anyway He started opff a bit progressive but then by the time he left he was hard and dark, almost techno-ish (gumbles gonna tell me off for saying that). Anyway tracks I remember:
Nathan Fake - Outhouse
Probspot - Divine (i think so, but it was definately a probspot tune)
Solar Stone vs Scott Bond - Red Line Highway
Filterheadz - Yimanya
Perry O'Neil - Waveforce
New Order - Blue Monday (M.I.K.E.'s Mix??)
Tim Deluxe vs Cohen - Just Kick
Thats all I remember off the top of my head, I was disappointed he didn't play a bit more Electro... and the atmosphere wasn't very good, its hard to have the same sort of energy as the Prodigy.
OVERALLL a very good day for me, had a great time. Was a good turn out, lots of candy ravers, but still a good turn out. It was well organised and set up. Can't wait for TT06!!! |

I struggled yesterday with the heat yesterday later on, in' felt like towards the end of the night.
Stampers review seems pretty thorough, all I have to add is:
GRAND MASTER FLASH
in tops set, that guy sure knows how to entertain....
hahaha I'm uber 733+ and can ID some of his set:
dj cool - let me clear my throat
deelite - groove is in the heart
naughty by nature - hip hop hooray
naughty by nature - down with OPP
michael jackson - dont blame it on the boogey
and many quality others, was pretty tanked at the time, so memorys a bit hazy!
haha and after 10 minutes of him saying "hmm should I play one more? i think you guys might know this track" he dropped the message.
All in all a really good day, pity my stamina was lacking and missed out on the prodigy :( heard they were wicked. Glad there was a massive turn out, reckon it will be back bigger than ever next year! |

I agree with pretty much everything Stamper said.
I only got there after 5, so saw about 20 mins of Signum, who rocked.
Saw about 10 minutes of Ed Real, then off to Armand van Helden. I don't like much house, but he was pretty good, seemed to be a lot of rock mash-ups/remixes. Tries to ring my friend who wasn't there about 15 times during My My My, she loves him and gave me a very amusing phone call afterwards:p .
Saw about 30 mins of Hawtin too, wasn't bad but there was some old techno kandy kid with a whole bunch of steins on her belt who was jumping around near me and pissing everyone off so I left.
Poor Luke Chable, djing to about 5 people at one point, built up to maybe 30-40 (including Jan Johnston) but it was pretty enjoyable set, I couldn't believe there weren't more people there!
Back to Godskitchen for Hyper for his warmup set, was awesome, loved it.
Prodigy were nuts
Ran off to Rank 1 when they finished for one hour, were pretty good, played Such Is Life, was hanging out for Symsonic though.....
Back to MIKE at 11, loved him too, was great. Majorly pissed they stopped him half an hour early but he came down and had a chat to people after - he said he was going back to the hotel to do some producing. I think he won over a few people as some of the people he talked to had no idea about him but they loved him afterwards (they didn't know how to spell his name, thought it was Mark!, asked him if he had any aliases etc)

Rocked up sometime, just after my last post in this thread..
Went and had a look around, Signum was too hard and not my thing - GMF was pretty cheesey. So then settled down at Schumacher. Who was awesome, heaps of fun really enjoyed his style.
Hyper played after, but found it a bit boring - so left to see the fabric boys, Mal and Lachy play to the fabric crew and a whole lot of people chilling. That was a pretty fun set, we all go up and jumped around a bit for it :) oh and had a sing a long :p
After that, Hawtin. SET OF THE NIGHT WITHOUT A DOUBT. Relentless, started off fairly relaxed but built into a ing monster. Just the way I like my techno sets :) So so pounding by the end of it. And good to see Jules liking some decent music for once!!!
Checked out Chable briefly, but he had nothing on Hawtin, and no ppl watching him - so went straight back.
After Hawtin finished, Hyper came on for his Proigy Warmup set, and again, wasnt in the mood. Went and checked out Seaman but he was playing to hardly anyone. I left that and went and chilled for the rest of the night..... (I heard later that Seaman walked off cos noone was there?)
Saw Prodigy play Smack My Bitch up, but hey - I used to be a big Prodigy fan, back in the 90's. I think we are all over it now? The new album is nothing great in this age, since nearly every other producer has caught up and surpassed Howletts skills?
As i was chilling outside, caught a great closing set by HMC - that rocked me and finished my night off well :)
Also caught MIKE for a bit - again not my thing. Playing his enegry style Trance I guess - stuff he used to release on Bonzai (Yellow?) Label. Really flat and boring. |
