im wanting to get an mp3 player soon
and of course, naturally thinking of the ipod...
however i dont think ipod can do line-in recording (for example
recording a dj set) or something like that..
any similarly priced mp3 players that maybe also worth a look???
which can hold up to 20gig...
cheers |

i've only experienced the ipod 20gig but if all you want to do is listen to music, then it is the way to go. in regards to inline recording, well its not hard to just record it on the pc and send it over
problem is with the battery life, only lasts about 18 months or so before you need to send it in and get it replaced (about $100 i think). i was reading up on the zen before i got the ipod and pound for pound it s on the ipod for playtime (i think 20+ hours compared to the 8 of the gen4 ipod)
one thing with the ipod, always safely disconnect the hardware or you will end up with 18 gig of bad sectors which is not cool. luckily mine was still under warranty and they sent me a new one. |

exactly - i hate hate having to drag computer into where i have decks set up.
for this reason i'd look at getting a zen or an iRiver product
btw, saw recently they are bringing out a mini zen w/ 5gb & line in etc. [surprise suprise!]
theres thousands of alternatives tho
edit: look for ones that dont have copy protection - eg sony & the itunes gimmick [tho that can be bypassed] |
