I truly love this tournament, and i gotta say its just BARELY ahead of the US Open as my 2nd fave major..Wimbledon of course is #1
I love the courts, i love the extreme heat, and i LOVE the fans.
Always so much emotion in any of these matches.
And the Aussies LOVE it:crazy: |
The Aussie open is my FAV opening! Nothing touches it for me!! The fans, the vibe, the "Aussie-ness" ;) and, oh yea, the extreme heat too!
When you say the courts... im confused. Do you mean the surface... ?? :conf: and do you still hold the same love now that they've changed the surface this year. Its no longer rebound-ace, its some new compound. Its a slower surface now. and balls dont bounce as high, and it doesnt reflect the heat as brutally as the rebound ace did. Fed dont like it as much, but its generally being touted as a fast improvement (esp on the heat factor issue!)
[EDIT: OH! and what the hell is up w/ the nets... are they metal NOW or something!?!?!?!? ... every time a ball would hit them you'd hear a metallic "clang"... not the nice, soft sound as when they were the typical traditional hard mesh material (whatever that was called) ...]

One to watch for is Murray the Scotsman. He's rehabbed his wrist and is fully healthy
AND playing well, winning in Doha.
This yr is gonna be HUGE for him i predict (barring injury).
I see him cracking the top 5, if not top 3 this yr... |
LOL... he's out already Vrk, in teh first upset of this fortnight. :S
| quote: | | Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, from France, pulled off an upset of ninth-seeded Brit Andy Murray, 7-5, 6-4, 0-6, 7-6 (7-5). On the deciding point of the fourth-set tiebreak, Murray struck a shot just wide left to end the match, and whacked a ball into the stands in frustration. |
| quote: | This is a yr i'd LOVE to see Henin take it from the start.
I'm aching to see someone with the Grand Slam, and Henin would be a wonderfully deserving person of it.
REALLY hope she takes this tournament. |
NO DOUBT there... she is the MOST deserving female in years that should put a calendar year Grand Slam behind her name! Increase her legend!
Henin, like Federer for you, is somebody I simply cannot NOT admire. The girl is so inspirational for me. I admire most all things about her (save for a bit a gamesmanship we've seen from her once or two a number of years ago maybe).
I'm ready for Justine Henin to dominate this year. Beat the bitch (Serena)... again! (not sure if they even in the same draw, but id love nothign more than to see Serena go down to Justine AGAIN!!! :D:D:D) |
