Midi Controller USB vs Midi Cables
|

| I currently use a USB cable configuration with my midi controller in FL, and find that i can only get low latencies if I lower my sample buffer, but as u know, will cause underruns. If i switch to midi cables instead, will this still give me better latency even if I have a high sample buffer (such as 300+ milliseconds)? Would really appreciate any insight, thanks. |

It depends on your system. If you have a lot of USB devices plugged in, obviously your USB bandwidth will be smaller thus latency is greater. Is your motherboard is older (no USB 2.0) that will slow you down too.
Before you get a cable perhaps you want to consider this:

What soundcard are you using that gives you 300ms? |

| My latency isn't at 300ms. My latency right now is dependant on my sample buffer rate. I can get great latencies if I set it low, but the problem is that my songs will start to crackle because it's under buffered. So I am just wondering if switching to Midi cables can alleviate this problem. |
