well I did end up going to the showcase and met Mr Zabiela himself. Though scheduled for an 8pm start, james didn't hit the decks until about 8.30pm and he played for about 30-40 mins.
Not really a structured set, just a muck around with the decks and his effects kit. Nonetheless, it was awesome. The guy is truly talented, and his set at field day gained him a tonne of new fans I'm sure.
My friends went to Renaissance NYE and reported that the set was extremely housey and there were several moments where his technical brilliance didn't really help with the atmosphere of the event ie. crowd weren't into it. Shame really, but he more than made up for it at Field Day. |
