I've just been advised by someone on another forum to just put my production questionnaire straight onto the forum instead of giving an e-mail address. Here it is folks.

If you find a question isn¡¦t relevant to you, just ignore it and move on. Thanks to all of you who take the time to respond. It is much appreciated. Declan,

What style of music do you produce/want to produce?

Are you a professional or is this a hobby?

How many years have you been creating music? Or are you just looking into it now?

What programs do you use for:
„X Sequencing?
„X Cutting up samples?
„X Making drum/rhythm patterns?
„X Creating bass lines?
„X Composing synthesiser patterns/chord progressions etc?
„X Anything else?

Do you use a PC or a Mac?

Do you work exclusively with software applications or is hardware used in your musical composition? If you use hardware what types do you use and how do you move the created sounds onto a PC/Mac?

Do you understand musical theory or do you ¡¥create what sounds good¡¦?

Would you be interested in learning musical theory?

Is learning the piano (and therefore a synthesiser) something you would be interested in?

Do you think an online course that introduces newcomers to the various things involved in music production would be useful? Or do you think that because there is so much to learn that formal schooling is the way to go?

For this course I¡¦m intending to introduce people to a number of production programs. From your experience could you rate these out of ten? If you don¡¦t use them please state if you don¡¦t like them or you simply don¡¦t use them.
Cubase: __ out of 10 Or don¡¦t use because:
ReCycle: __ out of 10 Or don¡¦t use because:
ReBirth: __ out of 10 Or don¡¦t use because:
HALion: __ out of 10 Or don¡¦t use because:

Would you find:
Starter Piano: __ out of 10
Intermediate Piano: __ out of 10
relevant?

Do you use MIDI and audio or just one or the other?
Why?

If you¡¦re not familiar with MIDI, would you like to know more about it?

Any other comments on subject matter, depth of knowledge for a course etc. ANYTHING, feel free to fill it in here.

Thanks for your time
