New Music

Was discussing this last night with a few mates.

After watching the new band aid e it became apparent that talent is no longer required to make it big on the music stage.

We came to the conclusion that if you took all the recording artists from the original band aid song and held a concert today then it would undoubtedly sell out any venue.

Now in twenty years time if we were to collect together all the artists on the current band aid song in twenty years time and hold a concert, people would no doubt be saying; "who the are these people"?

So what has happened to the music industry, why is there are no bands that can stand the test of time anymore, why is it music all sounds so manufactured and why is it that bands from the 80's still sound fresher than some of the drivel that comes from the likes of busted etc??

please I need to know!!!

simple... music sold out

20 years ago, the charts were graced with people that had a burning desire to write songs with meaning, and to possibly deliver a message to the world. now a days, obviously its money and celebrityism [word?]

how many singers/artists do you know that actually write theyre own material? next to none

where 20 years ago the whole band aid group weanted to be on this record as it was an honour. this year i have no doubt that its all part of a popularity contest [as with everything], with many americans and so on left gutted cos they wernt allowed to be a part of it as band aid is a brit thing, hence all your madonna's etc etc missing out on all that valuable press. and just while we're on the subject of madonna... a 40 sumthing mother bringing out tracks with a dance edge and a techno influence etc.... yeah right madge.. all your own ideas  ... why not get william orbit in to put you back on he right track so people will still buy your stuff :whip:

Subconciously, I think I've known that from about the age of 8.

:p
Coup
ive been thinking this too.

i like commercial music, anything from 1980 to 2000. but after 2000, it takes a massive nose dive in quality of artists and quality of songs. all the music these days is utter .

flip and fill find a great trance track, get some fit bird who cant sick to sing some pointless vocals over it and wham, we've done it again.

a load of black people disgraced the theme song from the tetley advert with their "sunshine". atleast 4/10 of the new tracks coming out today are covers of older ones, even eric prydz call on me is a cover.

u dont need talent, or skill or indeed anything really, either a pretty face, a sexy body and lots of confidence, singing and music is pretty low down in the pecking order now.

shameful.
