a corny quote correlated with djing, but i guess it holds an underlying truth behind it. :p
in regards to the justification of tiesto's behaviour for being as egotistical as he is, c'mon, what about the first superstar djs. sasha and digweed. you don't see them pullin their status to the degree tiesto has. both could pump the pr machine like nobody's business if they wanted, but they're so rooted to the ground in pushing new sounds i.e. digger's kiss show, in production i.e. sasha going to hybernation from djing to work on involver, or after his car accident, to finish off airdrawndagger. most importantly, both have helped nurture djs, taken few under their wings, helped launched careers e.g. sasha with zabiela, digweed with fortier, danny howells. [i'm sure there're more, but that's from the top of my head]. i don't think i've yet to hear any likewise stories bout tijs?
instead i hear geroldome stadiums, olympic ceremonies and coca cola ads?
mmmm. tiesto does seem like a little prick now i think of it. did he not ditch the gouryella project with ferry to work on another magic trick? :) his reasoning was that he'd moved away from the gouryella sound, but geezus, it's a duo project, if you're to grow, let the project grow too. |

true that, only the TA's would over-analyse the scene stroking their chins while tiesto gets richer!
all this reading into it is quite entertaining actually |

how about dj montana?
i think he jumped into djing right after tijs starting to get gigs (they were mates) in the early 90s then he started the black hole label and signed montana in.. |

I saw Ferry Corsten last night, not only did he signs cd's during his set, but afterwards he spent 10 minutes, signing more stuff at 5am in the morning....
Wild set too...
I gotta say tho, If I was number 1 dj in the world or top5, and for some reason companies wanted me to do commericals, or play here or there... id do it.
you got to milk it for all it's worth, because it will run out one day....
look back 5 years ago, PETE TONG, JUDGE JULES... where are they now? still fairly huge... but nowhere near as people like PVD, TIESTO etc.
MARKETING IS EVERYTHING.
:D Promoters want djs who pull numbers for whatever reason. |
