Im sorry if this is a noob question but im new to this stuff and want to learn how to make my own techno music. I am wonder what are all the components needed to make my own techno? Like the beats and sounds, effects, etc... Could someone please fill me in on some info? Thanks a lot. Cheers!

you wanna make techno? take a kick sound and have it play at a constant pattern for 5 minutes. maybe throw in a random sound effect. :D

now if you wanna make TRANCE, like this board would suggest, i would say if you have a TON of money then buy some hardware. synthesizers, keyboards etc, and a real nice fast computer. if you dont have a whole lot, just go spend 400 bucks on some software like FL studio (commonly called Fruity Loops), Reason, Cubase, Logic, etc. oh, and stay on the produciton forums. you'll learn a lot.

oh... and google is your friend. just search like, EDM song compositions and stuff. i donno, havent tried, but you should get the idea:)

"synthesizers, keyboards etc," well whats the rest? (etc)... and how would I record all the sounds i make with the keyboard and synthesizers to my computer?
D-res
record with software. you can use the programs that i listed if you want or you can get software like Cool Edit and layer your song like that...

as for the "etc" i dont know... as far as i can think of it would be....

Midi keyboards
drum machine
mixeing board ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$)
effects processors (you can do that anyway on software)
synthesizers
keyboards in general
any other instrument you want... acoustic electric guitar?

theres more, but im brain dead right now
Tranc3
You could always read the stickies...

I don't think you actually want to make techno, and I think you really need to research the music first, and find what genre you like, as it seems you just want to make "dance music" and want a program to do it for you.

Making good music is very complicated and requires at least expensive software. You could try something basic like eJay or something to get an idea I guess.

I'm in teh same situation the dude is.

I'm intrested in making prog/epic/goa and some DNB, Funky House and Hip hop but mostly prog/epic/goa tracks. I also have vocals available in my sister who is the best singer in the world, where can I buy a microphone that has good quality??

Also I will mostly be using Logic or Cubase. If I get myself Synths and a drum machine will I be able to use them in my pc? Are they midi or something?

I also don't know jack about music. I'm a bedroom DJ and that helps me a bit, and I've played the piano for a year when I was 6.

What are the pros and cons with a virtual studio to a real studio that's more expensive?

If real studio equipment is better by a lot, then I'm going to have to work my young 17 year old ass daily in McDonalds for this and I don't mind doing it. Trance music is beautiful and amazing that's why!

For recording vocals your best is probly go to a local studio and record em in a vocal booth, than they usually burn em to cdr so you can take em home to work with.

In terms of equipment I would recomend getting your hands on some type of software, wether it be Fruit Loops, Reason, Cubase, Logic, whatever. You can basically do everything with software that you can with hardware.
