Please identify some/all of the state and local issues that appear(ed) on your ballot today, tell how you voted with a brief (1 line) explanation of why.
Issue 1 : Ammendment to the constitution reaffirming the ban against gay marriage. This issue also denies unmarried people the same rights as married people (see, health coverage, visitation rights, power of attorney/estate rights, etc) - No
(This law is too broad, and it should be up to the institution to decide who gets what benefits)
Issue 12 : Ban of Indoor Smoking in all Public and Private establishments that are not residencies : No
(Government should not be telling private businesses what they can do on their own property)
Issue 97 : Increase in property taxes (to the tune of ~231 dollars per $100,000 worth of property) in order to fund schools, extracurricular programs, and teachers - Yes
(Only because my mom holds one of the bubble jobs that could be eliminated. Ohio's school system is notorious for mismanaging its money
Issue 106 : Renewal of a .75 mill levy (which expires 12/31/05) for the Columbus Zoo - No
(Theyre trying to double dip for a year, plus I dont feel Private enterprises should be funded by government money)
