Digital Turntables or Final Scratch with a TT

I want to sell my cdj 100s and upgrade, but im debating whether to spend money on two new cd players like the numark or the pioneer mkII or whether to buy a second tt( i have a ttx) and buy FS with a laptop. The prices come to about the same in the end. Any advice or comments on FS?

Hmm, I would say it depends on what you wanna do, if you want to just mix, then go the second TT way, but get FS2 or SSL instead of FS, I'm kinda having the same problem, I got my setup, but not sure if I want to get SSL or a CDJ, I mainly want one of these for adding samples and the like into my sets, so I think I'll be going the CDJ direction, but anyway, if you just want to mix, then go for the second TT, if you like the idea of loops and samples, then go for CD decks.

when you say loops and samples what do you mean, do you have a clip where they are used?

Samples as in, vocals or speech, maybe animal sounds:nervous: , noises of various kinds.

Loops as in you take a beat from one track thats only 4 beats long, and you basically repeat the sound over and over, you can also do this with vocals or synths, theres tons you can do.

i know what they are but how come u cant use them with final scratch? and i dont really see how u would use a loop effectively in a mix. Maybe hip hop but not in electronica.

Well I dunno if you could do a loop in FS, the only way I know of, would mean to continue mixing you would need a 3rd deck, but I might be wrong, plus the new version of FS or SSL might allow it.

As for dropping loops in trance or house, yea can do many things, just need to get creative, like get your usual trance track that has a buildup with no beat in it, then get say a breakbeat loop that has the same key and sound as you trance track and loop it then drop it in at the appropriate time and there you go, just gotta get creative man.

I had to make the decision once and i have chosen the FS. I'm satisfied with the decision i made. The sound is mint when playing in club and i just don't like the idea of using cds...

go for Final Scratch. Im not sure if the new version is out but i know its available at some point this month. The new one (v2.0) is studio quality sound. thing is I was told you can't use external FX units if you are using final scratch.
For your budget FS is still way more worth the money and then eventually after you start wanting to expand to use FX and loops, get a proper CDJ, like the CDJ 1000 which will open up loads of possibilities. getting a cheap/average CDJs is a waste of money in my opinion.

not true, theres no reason at all why you cant use external fx with fs

just buy 2 CDJS :) or another TTX and FS2

Either way u should be fine.

I own both heh heh. I only use the CDJs for loops and vocals and gigs where I feel lazy bringing my TT's
