got this from the slam board. can anyone shed any light on it and tell if it's true or no.
| quote: | Jonathan Woodgate hasn't yet been able to make his Real Madrid debut, but is already on the verge of being immersed in a scandal of huge proportions which threatens to end his career and taint the name of Real Madrid in the process. According to sources close to Newcastle, his former club, the defender is being investigated by English police for the possession and consumption of intolerable quantities of cocaine. It appears that the police has corrobating evidence. This revelation could, if true, put serious pressure, not only on the player himself, but also on his president, Florentino Perez.
If all these allegations finally come to light, they would explain the unexpected, shock transfer which took English football by surprise, given that Newcastle got rid of a key player just before the start of the season, without having lined up a replacement. Woodgate's transfer was a complete surprise, taking place seemingly overnight, whilst all eyes were on Coloccini or Cannavaro, the two players with which the Madrid outfit were negotiating.
The magpies' chairman, Freddy Shepard (sic), presumably aware of the situation and that Woodgate's detention was a question of time, came to the conclusion that he should simply get rid of the problem, whilst at the same time taking advantage of Perez's desperation to satisfy the wishes of his coach, bring in some money, and sell the player to Real. Madrid's season promises to be hot."

That's basically a direct translation of an article from www.sport.es which appeared yesterday, although that site is biased to Barcelona so they are more likely to blow this story out of proportion.
It wouldn't surprise me though. |

Jonathan Woodgate hasn't yet been able to make his Real Madrid debut,
but is already on the verge of being immersed in a scandal of huge
proportions which threatens to end his career and taint the name of
Real Madrid in the process.
According to sources close to Newcastle, his former club, the defender is being investigated by English police for the possession and consumption of intolerable quantities of cocaine. It appears that the police have corroborating evidence on both Woodgate and his current partner, Kate Lawler. Lawler has built herself quite a reputation on the Z-list celebrity circuit as a huge user of cocaine since she shot to fame on the back of her appearance on Big Brother.
It is also reported that one of the Sunday newspapers in England have
obtained pictures of both Woodgate & Lawler face down in a pile of cocaine, and are fighting a gagging order in court to prevent them from publishing the pictures this weekend.

That is the full article and believe me there is definatly truth in it. I have a friend who works in the media and although by law he is not allowed to divulge any information for legal reasons he told me 3 weeks ago that a certain ex Newcastle defender (he named no names) who had just moved abroad has a massive cocaine habit which will be revealed in the sunday papers. As I say that was 3 weeks ago. On the saturday evening the same person told me that at the 11th hour before publication a gagging order had been granted and that it would not be in any of the sunday rags the following day. Sure enough there was no trace of the story in any of the sunday tabloids but funnily enough all the rags had ty headlines that day which it was clearly obvious were rushed, non important stories that had obviously just made the front pages as the main story that they had been working on all week was not allowed to be published.
As for Woodgate not being stupid anymore, well thats quite frankly bollocks. A man who smashes bottles over his own head as his party piece when wasted is not the kind of person who I would say has turned over a new leaf.
I absolutly loved the man when he played for us but unfortunatly that wasn't very often and his nocturnal activites seem to have certainly taken there toll on his body and powers of recovery. |
