Well, I don't know Tayfoon, but I'm assuming your kidding. right?
Anyway, I think people just haven't opened thier minds enough to actaully understand what trance is... and that's fine by me. If people hate trance and the people that listen to it, Fine. Not worth my time anyway. Just don't sink down to thier level. Be humble and bold, and know that you're one step ahead of the game.
I'd also like to know what sort of violent tendencies your referring to. I've never seen a fist fight break out because someone hates the sort of music. DO you have an example? |

Also, as people get older they don't hate on electronic music as much. Sure in highschool, Twisted, people are all about hte bling bling wigger rap but lately my friends and aquatinces have been opening up to it and they have started coming out to shows because it is good fun in the clubs. Tastefull music, tastefull crowd. This is the opposite of what happens at most raves (as we all know and as I stated above).
Why is it that nobody hates on Breaks or Progressive House? Because the crowd that it is assotiated with is really chill and cool.
My 2 cents. As people grow up they begin to realise that electronic stuff isn't so bad and also the SCENE has everything to do with the hating.

they hate on it because they are all closed-minded people. they listen to their music and everything else sounds the same to them, it all sounds like crap. they hear electronic, they think darude - sandstorm and cheesy techno (not that techno is cheesy, this is just the attitude). they associate electronic music with 'raves' and 13 year old candy raver girls high on X and stuff.
its all about being misinformed, and not giving a *hit about finding out for themselves what the scene is truly about.
as sean said, the scene, when filled with the right people (attitude wise), is really great. i know elena would have nothing but great things to say about the scene in europe. everyone's all friendly and laidback and chilled, and its great fun, good tunes, etc.
in vancouver, its really hard as all the promoters would say (like mirka and danny, winston and others, i know there are many more and many others), its frustrating trying to crack the shell of ignorance around here.
the best thing to do is just get these people out, and hope for the best. it helps when more people are there. i know i brought two people out with my g/f to destination trance, and there were like 10 people there. i know driven thursdays gets really small numbers too, but that's a topic already under discussion in another thread and why pour more fuel on the fire eh?
i hope angelo gets that spot on z95. that'd rock. that'd really help the scene!
we also need some better venues.
but yeah. its mostly ignorance. and frankly, maybe i don't want ignorant people being a part of the electronic scene. if they're too involved in doing their own thing and not willing to be open, then maybe i'm not interested in them either. im not a big fan of hiphop and rap, but i'll listen to it. if my friends are going to a club with hiphop music, i won't say no just because i don't love the music. yet so many people when asked to come to a trance night, or any electronic night, most just simply turn invisible all of a sudden and disappear on you.
i've said it a million times. i'm just waiting for the day that trance becomes popular and you get all these retards that say "oh i loved trance all along, all these years man" and I'll catch them lying out their as* and i'll just laugh at them for a moment, and then say screw it and just party! |
