didn't see this topic til just now

It was a very enjoyable gig... Astral was late arriving (least, that's what i remember) but they were great.

9:00
We showed up, fully prepped (plz don't ask me to explain that) and ready to do our part til the security guy looked at me and said "do u got any ID?"... I never carry ID at clubs, so this might've been an interesting moment... except that it's been a few years (ahem) since anyone anywhere has asked me that question. So after a raised eyebrow followed by a "thank you for asking" on my part, he let us in.

10:00 (approx)
The floor was steadily filling up as DJ Chris warmed up for AP. He did an extra long set and (this is just my opinion) almost overshadowed AP by the end of his performance. He read the crowd perfectly and did a great job keeping up the energy and enjoyment... it's not every night u hear Dire Straits and Iron Maiden being mixed into a set.

About an hour before Chris finished his set we both went to replenish ourselves. While walking out we noticed the people who hadn't made it onto the floor lined up against the wall or sitting in the chairs around the edge of the room; gravity was clearly optional for most of 'em. But they sure looked happy.

1:00 (?)
Around the time we were starting to feel replenished AP arrived and started their set, so we headed back in.

AP played a lotta cuts from Amen (Chaos was great!) as well as some of their older tracks: Dancing Galaxy & Let There Be Light I remember for sure... they might have played Visions of Nasca but I was having some pretty intense visions of my own by the end of it all, so I don't really remember.

I do remember that Chaos (the track I was really looking forward to hearing) had a different mix, tho I'm not sure it was deliberate or if the P.A. was just pushing different frequencies harder... slightly warmer mix, with a little less high-end edge... gave the tune a bit more of a "wormhole effect" than the CD... different, but it definitely worked. Was a darker sound for Let There Be Light too, which didn't grab me as much... but it's my fave cut of theirs so hearing it made my week anyway :)

3:30 (?!?@%#!)
Sorry... I don't really have a clue what time it ended at. I know we made it back around 4 AM, our ears buzzing pure static and a general sense of reality-disconnect.

AP was great... and if you get the chance, catch DJ Chris's set sometime... his set was totally inspired/inspiring!
