nah, wrong wrong wrong... and right
i reckon australia's dance/rave culture or scene or however you want to put it is more accepted commercially than other counties, warehouse parties get advertised on streetlight poles, and the general public seems to accept that it is there, and also that it is safe... however we are also moreso of a bandwagon rider when it comes to the major parties - the main events we have are Godskitchen, Welcome, Slinky, and up until recently (but as i understand it is coming back) Gatecrasher parties... I dont agree that trance genres "belong" as such to particular countries... imo most genres have been discovered when it comes to trance, and it should be interesting to see where it goes, but a country doesnt exactly need to have its own style of trance music to be able to have great parties, which, in the end is what matters after it all, isnt it?
Personally i'd like to see an Australian party start up that isnt kandy based or anything that is just as much Australia's as Crasher is england's... however somehow with all the other huge parties in the world i doubt that is going to happen.
Australia and its trance scene moves and changes as the rest of the world's does... just because we dont have "our own music" or our own " unique culture" doesnt mean that we can't party as hard as the rest of the world

Nice article, long read though :p :p :p
I agree with most points, but i have to argue with the point that "australia doesn't have it's own sound" (i'm paraphrasing)
Aren't artists like Infusion, Luke Chable etc leading the way in prog and prog breaks???? I admit i know jack about prog, but i heard someone say that the sound that they play first originated out of Australia. |
