Sending patches to Virus and Microq, HELP!

I've just spent too much time trying to load some soundsets onto my virusc and microq. I followed the instructions in the synth manuals- load midi into sequencer, press play. It seems as though the sequencer is sending no data at all. I've loaded patches before using SendSysex.EXE but the soundsets i got now aren't in sysex format. Any advice? I'm incredibly frustrated. :(
I use Sonar 3, but do have access do Cubase SX (which I tried and it failed also). |

May be obvious but:
Make sure you have midi channel on the midi track set to same channel for virus..
On virus, make sure you go to confi and make sure sysex is enabled. ALso, be sure that when you hit play, have have it setup to "force sysex to bank 'X'" whatever bank your dumping the patches to.
I dont know about the virus C, but i know on the virus B, you can only overwrite to a particular bank. Make sure you are writing to a bank that can be overwritten!
Final tip, slow down playback on your sequencer.. If its set to 140bpm.. set it to 70-80 bpm.
Do you see that the sequencer is playing back the midi file? Do you see that the virus is pinging that its receiving midi notes? Have you been able to ever up a systex dump to the synth? |

bachatu.
I've done all those things you said above to send banks in sysex format, and those do work. Its the ones that are BankX.mid that I can't send from sequencer to synth. Is there some kind of midi to sysex converter? |

Virus C = I use the SoundDiver Virus program that comes with it on CD... Really very easy to do stuff. Also if you have the patches in MIDI format, just play them in Windows Media player and it will transfer them to the Virus. Usually takes about 1 minute, you will know if it's working or not cos a little icon will come up on the Virus' Screen.
Make sure you download the factory settings&full reset files of the access site incase you overwrite something you don't want to.. |

| make sure in your sequencers midi options page that sysexe in not chgecked of as filterd out(namely in SX..don't know about sonar) if this is the case then no sysex data will be sent from the midi files. I'm not a Virus expert but if you need waldorf help..then I'm the man. |

I got the viruses loaded using sounddriver
(duh, i should have done that first). but my microQ is still empty. In fact I accidently erased the flash memory so now its full of
"init" sounds. :toothless |

| u need to erase the flash anyway to store another soundset to it(or you will get reorganizeing memeory screen and have to dump the set a few times) so your on your way. make sure the sysex ID in the global menu is set to 1 and if that doesn't work try 0 or 2...if teh set was dumnped on a different sysex ID then when you sump it back it has to match the ID. All Waldorfs sets are set to ID 1 and so are all the other sets out there. |
