Promise Afternoon Soundsystem Canada Day Celebration
Thursday June 1 from 2pm til midnight
It's time again this year to celebrate Canada - a country where we can put together parties like this out in the open without getting jailed or shut down. It's a testament to a wonderful nation that we are free to enjoy socializing casually together.
Bring a frisbee, bring a kite, bring a handy sweater, bring a dog (only nice dogs), bring your lover and a hammock. And pass the time on this lazy sunny afternoon with friends and friends of friends.
Musicians:
Bob (the Reverend) the return of the dub reggae master
Intergalactic Faerie Funk live house group that rocks the Om Festival each year
Samba Elegua 30 piece samba band
Ali Black house (played an amazing set last year at cherry beach after having a baby just that morning)
Rollin' Cash sunset beach breaks
Jelo smashing techno
Lee Osborne progressive techno
and more...
The weather this Thursday is predicting some rain, but you never know. If it does rain, this event will be postponed til Sunday. Call the hotline at 323.0361.
Take Lakeshore Blvd East of Toronto, just past Parliament
Turn sound south down Cherry Street all the way to the parking lot at the end and go east into the parking lot at your left.
At the furthest east of the parking lot, walk along the bike path, then turn left up into the trail into the woods…you'll hear music. If you end up at the lake, you are going the wrong way.
Biking to Cherry Beach is easy along the trails beside the lakeshore, and there seems to be a new bus service that goes all the way down to the beach finally – the Pape 725, probably from Pape Station.
things to think about:
Please don't bring more than you plan to take back out with you - leave no trace.
Bring something warm and something to sit on and also something to keep sun off your head. |
