Hey everyone need some help.
Ive got a DivX encoded MPEG movie that i need to trim... (the files 707MB - Cds burn maximum 704MB  , encoders suck at times eh?! ;):D )
Anyway can anyone let me know of a good program which i can use to trim the file a bit (say cut some film off the credits or off the start).... and do it easily.
Cheers....

Hahaha Leigh... I know how you feel, I often had that problem until I bought a DVD writer. You can get one for around $190 these days.
Just this morning I made a data DVD of 409 MP3 tracks. It took a while to compile & fix tags and filenames! You can fit almost 4.5GB on one DVD. |

| Even the crappiest movie editor (windows movie maker:nervous: ) will allow this. Just open the file up in windows movie maker, and it will automatically cut each individual take/roll (a take/roll is usually defined as a segement of the movie that's seperated by blackspace) into a seperate file. Not all takes/rolls in a movie are usefull, so you can elect to cut them out out, trim them etc. You could probably just cut the credits and you would have your 5Mb difference ;) |

Actually I think I remember splitting avi files using Virtualdub or Nandub. Get one of those programs. Read detailed instructions on doom9.org on how to split divx-encoded video files. As bragi said, use direct stream copy mode, otherwise it will take an extremely long time. |

| Thanks hyper.... VirtualDub is the one! I knew I'd used something better than TMPGenc for splitting... but was buggered if I could remember the name :) |

| Couldn't you just overburn it with Alcohol 110% or something? |

nah i dont think i can joel...
Ive yet to find a 700 MB cd that actually has more then 705MB of space on it... 650 usually go up to about 660 but 700 are a lot tighter on space - the current ones ive got tell me they have 704MB (according to nero's test section) so im still 3MB short!
Ill give virtual dub a go if i can get hold of it!! is there a shareware version or am i going the sem-ill-legal route here??? :D |
