Here he is, the man himself, DJ duffy !!
I was lucky enoug to be able to play 20 questions with Duff, check it out below...

1. I've heard it said that Dj's are boring, do you agree?
I agree and disagree with that statement. I think as a Dj you have a choice as to what you are going to play. You can cater to exactly what people want to hear, which I think is boring because people tend to do the same thing over and over again, or you can venture into the creative side and attempt to expand peoples minds with a variety of music. When you step out of your comfort zone, the benefits can be very rewarding. That equals not boring.
2. Coming originally from Edmonton, how long did it take you to become a Flames fan ?
This question assumes that I AM a Flames fan now. Maybe I like Detroit? Actually when I moved to Calgary 9 years ago, I was already a Flames fan so it was like milli-seconds.
3. What do you love more, VW Bugs or vinyl records?
Wow. This is a tough question for me. I find that both play a part in my reality escape. We all have some sort of escape button. Some people close their eyes and shut out the world or use drugs, others play music or maybe tinker on cars.mine happens to be both. The cars and music ones. Music has helped me through many different times and so has building my 60 Beetle. I think that's why some of my favourite music is that really melodic "emotional" trance.
4. Have you always loved trance or are there any music skeletons in your closet ?
I can get into most other genres of music except maybe country, but the foundation for me will always be trance. Even hair metal has a place in my heart. You just can't beat a little "Look what the cat dragged in" or maybe a little "Kick start my heart" from time to time.
5. Do you consider yourself to be an "oldschool" DJ?
If by "oldschool" you mean sitting around some nights talking about how things used to be, then yes, I am oldschool. I've been around the scene long enough to see the many changes that we've gone through as "party kids" or promoters and can reminisce with the best of them.
6. Are you a mover or a shaker?
I think I put myself in both categories here. I would be just as comfortable up on stage moving people with my music selection as I would be cutting up the dance floor grooving to someone else's good beats.
7. You suddenly come face to face with Darth Vader! Would you activate your lightsaber and fight old Dad, or draw your blaster and aim low?
Fight to the point where Vader was too injured to come after me and then I would run like a girl.
8. Pints or Shooters?
Pints all the way.
9. Favourite record of all time?
Café del Mar - Energy 52. No question.
10. Do you monitor mix or headphone mix?
I would have to say a combination of both.
11. What do you remember most from the 70's?
Cruising down the sidewalk on my big wheel doing power slide "e-brake" turns.
12. What shocks you ?
It shocks me that people will go through life doing the same thing over and over again every day knowing full well that they are only here in this world once but they are too scared to make a change because of fear. And electricity.
13. Letterman or Leno ?
Letterman. I like his laugh.
14. How do they get the caramel in the Caramilk bar?
Just like magicians and their magic, I don't know how they do it. And it really makes me MAD!
15. What in your opinion makes a DJ good?
I think music selection, skill, reading a crowd and their ability to interact with the crowd, makes a good Dj.
16. Is it true Djs cant dance?
I actually think that you can tell a good Dj by the way he/she dances. A better dancer will equal a better Dj. Others will contest that Dj's Dj because they can't dance so it's their attempt to get off the dance floor.
17. How the hell did Dj's ever become superstars anyways?
Like Rudy from survivor, "I dunno".
18. Who was your childhood hero?
My Grandfather. Pappy is what we called him. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could really do anything that he set his mind to.
19. Is Duffy your real name?
My full, long, extended version of my name is Duff. It means dark and was found in a baby book some 20 or 30 years ago. Duffy is what my good friends call me.
20. What would you do for a Klondike bar ?
I'd head down to the Drunken Monkey this Saturday May 1st and play some records for an hour or two!!!
