Wow.

I Dl'd his open for Armin - and I was blown away.

Now I love my trance as long as it's happy and energetic. However I find myself VERY picky about my progressive beats - sometimes to the point where I find it hard to get into.

Seneca's opening set for Armin was fantastic. I immediately put it on CD to listen to work - and by the time I drove the 30 miles (which takes me about an hour here in Toronto) I didn't want to leave my car until the whole 70 minutes were up.

You folks are lucky to have an awesome talent like that.

Yeah, no f'in joke...
The thing is, Chicago is overflowing with great talent, most of which, does not play out in other cities. Because they aren't universally popular and regularly touring for big bucks, we get to see them fairly regularly for pretty cheap. Guys like Seneca are now more apt to opening for the international talent that comes in than they are to doing a residency in a less musically-inclined environment. The club patrons aren't able to support the very talented locals in large enough numbers to sustain to many locally-driven, musically-inclined nights.

The result? We end up with plenty of good talent that is essential stuck with us. It sucks for them, but it is awesome for those of us that still go out. I get to go wherever someone like Seneca (and a few of my other favorites) is playing in the city, and it's great! He is one of those guys though that I want to see get picked up by labels for his production work so he can start sharing his DJing more globally. I know him well enough to know that he'll still play here in Chicago for all of us no matter how "big" he may make it. We are fortunate to have a fair amount of guys like that here who give back after making it. (Derrick Carter, anyone?)

And I'm not just saying these things about Seneca because I used to be his agent. ;) lol I honestly do believe them. Even if I would prefer if when he travels globally it is him and I playing as a duo!! :whip: :D
