Paul Oakenfold @ Summerfest, Milwaukee 07.01.04

Well "Beautiful Day" and "Idioteque" were both on Oakenfold's Ibiza album from 2001, so I was kind of not surprised to hear them since he's played them before and they're recognizable songs that might have been friendly to those checking out the different stages who were unfamiliar with Paul. Granted BT is much different, but he did the same thing last year and played "Clocks" as well. I was impressed because he blended some songs that were more from his classic trance style with other well-known songs. It all depends on perspective I guess, as I was fearing "Starry Eyed Surprise" and many other songs like it. As far as him being into the set, he really only periodically would raise his arms or point somewhere in the crowd, but he did seem to be very precise and focused on his set. I think at the Vic he'll probably have a set geared more toward his longtime fans andhopefully all will be satisfied. At least in my opinion it was well worth $12 and he was far better than that Aerosmith cover band who spent half their set talking about the party they had on the trip to Milwaukee.

i know, it's just sad. :( depressing even. where else can you get wasted every night, find weed being passed around every crowd openly, AND get laid in the bathrooms, for 10 days?!
