i personally do this all the time. crank some good tunes on full volume, mute the tv......and enjoy....
i personally like watching mxc on spike tv, while listening to music.

| usually when my friends are over and we play ping pong i have the tv on but the receiver is on the disc changer with some trance cd...ping pong and tv is so much better that way. |

Most of the time my roommate has the TV on and I'll be listening to something in my headphones. You'd be surprised at the things you can pick up on TV without hearing it.
I think my head might explode if I tried to concentrate on listening to both. |
