its not the actual amount they get paid, its the fact that their wages havent risen at the same rate as inflation. |
yep
just handed my dissertation in too - a work of art, and if they take ages to mark it i'll be pissed
apparently its mainly the science-related subjects that are affected |

For those at university.
Currently at Newcastle uni, the lecturers having carried out a 2 day no teaching strike, are currently continuing a no-marking or setting of exam questions strike.
Although not all university staff support the action and thus, apparently, work will eventually be marked by those who are not striking.
Is this happening at other uni's in the country.
At the moment it basically means im not going to graduate when im supposed to.
And surprise surprise its all the government's fault for not raising the pay over the forthcoming years in line the national average wage increases.

join the club mate, its the same at my uni, and most of my lecturers are part of the union so most of my exams might not be going ahead...
not a very rosy outlook i must say |

same with my uni...not marking my tests
if they dont mark the final exams...what will that mean??? will no-one get into their next year of uni or will everyone get into their next year of uni?
Edit: whoops never saw that bbc article:
| quote: | | It would mean students would be unable to graduate or progress from one year of their course to the next. |

| Same sort of thing is going on here at University of Bath. But what's really interesting to me is how it will work out if I don't get my tests marked, because I'm here on exchange for spring term only. |
