Bring back some memories? Console underdogs...

Dj Dizzy
Atari Jaguar 64 (with four 16 bit processors i think?)
Atari Lynx (handheld)
NEC TurboGrafx-16 (remember that caveman game Bam or something?)
Nintendo Virtual Boy (kinda tight but too much red :wtf: )
Panasonic 3DO (i used to want one, phat but Saturn/PS1 killed it)
Phillips CDi (it deserved to die)
Sega CD (admit it, we were all blown away when it first came out)
Sega 32X (umm....)
Sega Nomad (handheld Genesis = the !!)

discuss.

Nomad is cool if you have a wall plug near you at all times...but that sorta removes the portable part of it. Other than that, it took an insane amount of batteries to power and they only lasted for like an hour.

It was BONK!

Belive it or not, back in the day, i wanted a TurboGraphic16 more than a SNES! I remember my christmas list:
1. Turbo Graphix
2. SNES
3. Genesis

Lol, i ended up getting one and witnessed its death in less than a year, in games were $100! Oh well, got a SNES a short time later....

Dreamcast - a console that had everything going for it, one of the highest ratio of good games to bad games in the history of game systems, amazing games across every genre, one of the first solid online plans for a console, and some of the most innovative titles (Shenmue, Jet Grind Radio). Unfortunately, it was prematurely killed in fear of the PS2, Cube and Xbox, and never got the chance it deserved.

Saturn - Didn't really do too successful in the States, but if you're a hardcore gamer and you import, this is a must-own system. Radiant Silvergun is the best shooter ever, definitely worth the $150 the game frequently goes for on Ebay... Some excellent RPGs too like Shining Force 3, Grandia, Tengai Makyo 4 (import only), Magic Knight Rayearth. Amazing fighting games, like Xmen vs SF. Other extremely innovative titles like Guardian Heroes, NiGHTS, and Virtual On. Totally overpowered the PSX when it came to delivering crisp, smooth 2D graphics. The 3D setup was extremely awkward and SEGA's US marketing team was crap (not to mention, they left many of the best games ever stateside), but this was the peak of 2D game design and had some amazing music and comfortable controllers, too. A collector's dream system...

Turbo Grafx 16/Duo - Another home to amazing, import only games... Dracula X (Castlevania) - Rondo In Blood is a highly sought-after game... I knew someone who had this - it's the precursor to Symphony of the Night (one of the best games ever made). The CD system took advantage of the format to deliver innovative anime cinemas and fantastic music (Ys Book 1 and 2), but like Saturn, a lot of amazing games never came stateside (like Castlevania - who's bright idea was that :whip: ) I will definitely be getting one soon.

Neo Geo - this system was like $649 and games were over $100(the games were huge). had some really cool games (Samurai Showdown,King of the Fighters,Ninja Combat,King of the Monsters) My uncle had this and I was amazed that he put out the money to get this. Definately a hardcore gamer's system.

i'd have to say i've been playing my dc more than my xbox and ps2. the dc just has my kind of games, top notch 2d fighters, rpgs, multiplayer games. my friends and i used to spend countless hours playing soul calibur,doa2,virtua tennis,mvc2,etc.

The Dreamcast was amazing. The graphics, games, online and offline multiplayer; it was all there. I have one but only have about 5 games. When I get some money I plan on purchasing a whole crap load of great games.
