So, bin wieder da, nur leicht lädiert ;)
Hier ist mein Senf aus dem NYC forum zu PvD @Roxy am Freitag und Ferry Corsten @Avalon (ex limelight) am Samstag:

I agree with ShellShock, I missed the flow in the set. Same problem as 2 weeks ago at Casino in Berlin. Therefore, both sets didn't really catch me. That's too bad as he did change them dramatically from, say, the latter half of 2003, as rubyriva pointed out. That in itself is a big positive, but I kinda got the feeling that he hasn't really figured out the new tracks in his virtual record case to build as smooth a set as we are used to.
Of course Face to Face, one of my all time faves, rocked and so did For an Angel as the closing track. THOSE tracks cannot be overplayed, if you know what I mean.
As for the sound, it sucked, relatively speaking. The Phazon was clearly not up to its own standards and fell way behind it stellar performance last Novemer. I noticed that immediately as I walked in, that's how bad it was. But then again, it totally didn't compare to horrendous system at Avalon the next night at Ferry's show, one of the worst I've ever had my ears hurt.
And last but not least, Edgar V's opening set: sucked ass, the worst PvD@Roxy opening ever, even worse than the horrible Luis Diaz opening a couple of gigs ago. WTF was he thinking?
Great running into a lot of people, sorry I wasn't able to hang out with you, I was with my own crowd of 20+ people.
See ya all in Miami :D |

| quote: | Folks, I gotta agree with everyone, THIS was DA NIGHT!! Ahrd as it may be, I am forced to admit it was better than PvD.
So what can I say: wow, what a show!!! I didn't really expect too much of it, had heard really mixed comments about his sets, being to much uplifting (read: cheeze), or too electro and what not.
Well, I got into the club about 1:30 and he was already on, apparently he had started at 1 instead of 2 what I had expected. Anyway, his first hour or so seemed to confirm the "rumours". But then, all of a sudden, he turned around and just kept going, hard, relentless, banging, yet never leaving the realm of trance. While I do love PvD's venturing in different styles/genres during a set, especially techno, Ferry's set left nothing to be desired.
As arranged I met ShellShock and the gang. We had such a blast!!! Jon, you rock, too!
The one BIG negative of the night was the HORRIBLE sound system, one of the worst I have ever experienced, seriously. The bass was totally over-tweaked, leaving it being just a formless goo. And it hurt the ears big time, I was nearly deaf walking out of the club, and still am as I type this, ears still ringing, too.
After Ferry closed on an extremely dedicated and excited crowd we left for Arc to catch the last few hours of Danny Howells. Well, that was a big let-down, though. When we walked in about 7:15 it was pretty good and danceable, but very soon he fell into a breaks binge for like 45 minutes, which completely killed the energy, hardly anybody dancing for real any more after a while. For those of you who love breaks, well, to each his own, but I just can't stand them. Fortunately, teamj5 agreed with me 100%. After a little while I realized I could just go over to teh other room, where Bill Patrick spun a nice house set, as always. So it wasn't too bad after all.
Bottom line is, Ferry owned the weekend. So be it ;) |
