| There is freedom stated under the United States Constitution, but this is my question for you all: Do you believe that there is a unequal limitation to every right under the constitution?...i hope i don't sound like i'm uneducated..(which i'm not!)....but lately i've been feeling that there are too many rules and regulations that do not quite live up to their "settings." There's even shows that show that this country is not equal in the constitutional rights. |

The only standard by which America might be considered a "free" country is that it calls itself one.
Where is freedom, when you don't even have a right to die?
Where is freedom, when your property is pillaged to support others?
Where is freedom, your access to rights is determined by the number of times the Earth has revolved around the sun since your birth?
Where is freedom, when the government micromanages every aspect of your life?
Where is freedom, when 'freedom of speech' has undefined and purely subjective exceptions, like 'obscenity?'
Where is freedom, when peaceful protests are met with tear gas and riot squads?
Where is freedom, when practices which harm no-one are still outlawed?
Where is freedom, when your freedom is constrained by spurious social norms?
The answer, clearly, is that wherever freedom is, it is far from you. The Constitution does not begin to protect our freedom, but rather says, "here's a few things the government can't do" and then whispers in the government's ear, "but you can do anything else so go oppress those people!" |

| alyssa, how would u like to take a nice trip to iran, north korea, china, etc?? u may see why americans call america a "free" country. its quite amazing how, this countries government has survived and prospered for 225 years, and is still stronger than ever. most european countries, asian countries have all had at least dozens of different governments. switz is an exception in europe. cant think of any more. italy has had more than 600 governments since its beginning |
