What can you guys tell me about the Plaza of Nations?
I have been reading through some old threads, and I ask because some people make kind of disparaging remarks about the venue and talk about wishing how Vancouver had a better venue.
Is something wrong with the place?
Also, I hear talk about Twisted parties. What can you guys tell me about them? I'm trying to decide whether to see Marco V or AvB. I read some things about AvB being great but again some sniffy comments that it WAS going to be a Twisted party.
I can probably only attend one event. I really like uplifting trance and AvB, but also enjoy all electronic styles and am looking for the best event in terms of a total immersion experience.

I think most of the Twisted complaints heard here are because people have been stuck in line for 3+ hrs or something ridiculous like that, usually because the fire marshall is there and won't net anyone else in or something like that. The production at these shows are usually fantastic. The thing with raves is that: a) no alcohol, which is a problem for people like me =P, b) sketch crowd, consisting of everything from 15 year olds ed on meth to 50 year olds ed on god knows what, c) non-existant vibe due to the size of the place.
That said, I'd never miss a show the size of the upcoming Twisted 04 regardless of venue. Same with Insomnia provided I actually have money. |

Aaaaaaaaaaah, the picture is getting clearer. 3+ hours in line?!?! Are you serious? I had no idea. Is that sort of limited to Twisted productions, or is that par for the course for any 'rave' event held there? Is the queue generally for people who pay at the door, or do ticket holders join the queue?
I can't seem to find any 'start' times listed anywhere for Insomnia. Do you just show up whenever the hell you want or what time does the action start?
LOL. Sorry to be such a geek, but I have no one else to ask. I'm also going to be bringing up to three other friends for their first time, and I'd like to have some general idea about what situation I'm dragging these poor souls into. |

The huge lineups have happened at a lot of raves, not just twisted ones, either because the promoters have oversold the show or because of the fire marshall. The lineup includes people who have tickets, so to be sure I'd always get there well in advance to avoid possible complications.
Start times will usually be posted on forums day of the show, and given on the info line day of. Usually these things start at around 10pm. |

i went to kiss at the PON last year, went at midnight, waited in line for just 5 minutes, and its actually a really cool place...especially if ya have never been...
3 rooms, the theater is the best room...in terms of sound, vibe, and no windows :) usually house :)
and i had a blast that night...and the crowd is crazy like sean said...if ya have never been you'll be suprised...lots of older folk effed up on god knows what...really weird actually....but that's usually reserved for the main room.....there alwas a decent spot to party.
lights. lasers, all that jazz is really good....pretty impressive usually...my only complaint is the sound in the main rooms isn't very good.....and the sun comes up too ealy in the morning and seeing the place so bright is rough....and usually alot of 16 year olds... |
