Recording problem from mixer --> computer, help needed!!

Hi.
Have som serious problems with recording at the moment. When I am trying to record a mix or trying to rip one of my vinyls, the recorded file skips. I use total recorder at the moment and had no problem with this before, only after I had to reinstall Xp. I have tried to reinstall total recorder again with no luck:(
my soundcard is Creative Audigy2
Another thing that is weird is that when I am recording I am listening too my speakers and there is no skips there, and the speakers is connected to line out...
Any help appreciated:)

in short, your probably have a crap computer or are not using it properly.
i suggest you download audiograbber from www.download.com as it is by far the best freeware wave ripper and uses little resources.
i also suggest you obtain CDex, which i believe can be obtained from www.download.com too and is a very good freeware mp3 converter and can use as much or little cpu resources as you wish.
personally, i have pretty much a beast of a computer for producing on so it isn't an issue, but until about a year ago i had a proper e computer. i used to run win98 on it because everything else would up so much. when you record, normalise + encode, make sure all unnecessary programs are closed AND MAKE SURE VIRUS SCANNERS ARE OFF as they will frequently disrupt your recording. basically, devote your system to the audio recording, the internet is a no-go ;)

Hi again, thanks for your help but still the same problem:(
and yeah i have a computer:D , but have used it for recording for over a year but have never had any problems before I had too reinstall Xp again. And it seems too skip every 1 an a half minute..
hope anyone can help me out..
