Pixie trance was pioneered by James Holden, and further developed through the likes of himself, Gwill Morris, Luke Chable and a lot of the new guys in the Border Community scene.

The term was actually used first by Pete Tong, im pretty sure.

I doubt we will find much support here Slade, I mean, most of these guys rate Rank 1 and Oceanlab.

2 other tunes that will rock big time;

(not really pixie trance)

Way Out West - Apollo
Infusion - Untitled (last track off thier EM and last track they played in Adelaide 09/12)

If pixie trance is the sort of stuff that James Holden has taken to producing then you can count me out. Pretty much everything he's done since One4U (apart from Nothing - so including Solstice, Pacific, I Have Put Out the Light, Break in the Clouds, The Wheel etc.) has been forgettable, especially by his standards. It's just unnecessary, blippity-bloppetty nonsense imho. :-/

I mean seriously, compare his newer stuff to some of this older stuff, which ranks amongst the best in the short history of electronic music:

Mainline - Inner Space
Ogenki Clinic vs Future Sound Collective - Beautiful (<-- best bassline ever)
Blu Peter - Funky Suite (James Holden Remix) (<-- best vocal ever)
Blue Amazon - Breathe (James Holden Remix)
James Holden - Horizons
DJ Remy - Backstabber (Ariane Remix) (<-- second best bassline ever)
Timo Maas vs Mad Dogs - Better Make Room (James Holden Remix)
Ogenki Clinic - First Light
Roland Klinkenberg - Inner Laugh (James Holden Remix)

This is just a small selection of his earlier work, yet all of these were classics, with monster basslines, sublime melodies and exceptional production values all of which seem to be missing from his more recent stuff. Don't get me wrong - his stuff is still better than a lot of the prog-trance being released and if his GK set was anything to go by then he's a unique, very good DJ - but he's lost his trademark sound with his more recent stuff. Now you might say that everyone has to move forward and change their sound, but his newer stuff just seems - like I said - dull and uninspired.

So, feel free to flame away, but it needed to be said.
