2004 all-star game starting line-up

So three of the six spots on the Wests starting line-up are Dallas Stars players. Argueably the best two forwards on the West side (and two of the most dynamic) aren't starting, my hometown Canuck, Markus Naslund, and the razzle-dazzle Pavel Datsyuk for my beloved Wings. I know the game's being played in Minnesota, where the Stars were before they moved, but come on. Modano (who I love as much as the next person) is having a sub-par season. Same with Turco, who's just started playing well. All them Minnesota fan's sure did vote a lot :D
Anyway, should be a fun game, although having Heatly there sure would be nice :p

This crap happens every year.

You're right, Modano and Turco shouldn't be up there, but it doesn't just stop with them:

Kariya got a ton of votes and he's been injured most of the time.

Jason Allison got 50 000 votes and he hasn't played in almost a year.

And the biggest injustice of all, here are some names that got more votes than Sheldon Souray in the Eastern Conference:

Brian Leetch
Dan Boyle
Danny Markov
Tony Amonte
Dany Heatly (People should ing realise that this guy isn't going to play so why vote for him?)
Richard Zednik (Souray's own teammate)
Olli Jokinen (WTF?)

You get the idea.

All that aside, I always enjoy the all-star game and skills comp.

It's sad when they use last years performance to judge who gets to go the All-Star game this year. I mean, the guys that you listed had great years last year, but aren't play no where near that level this year.
I wonder if a guy like Shane Doan, who's having a superb year with the 'Yotes, will get selected. Would be nice to see some of the underrated guys make it, instead of guys that are more known for name lately, a la Jagr. Would love to see Morrison from my Canucks make it too :D

It's just plain stupid! I hate this - Sheldon Souray has definitely been one of the best defensemen this season - if not the best. He leads the scoring league for d-men by a mile!

The same goes for Theodore - he may not have been playing that consistant "Vezina and MVP candidate" type of play like he did two years ago, but he sure as hell isn't far away.

But then again - I'd rather see the Canadiens do well as a team, than to see half of their lineup in an All-Star game.
